This week I am taking Law Enforcement Protective Operations with Alexander Global Strategies (AGS). The Alliance Police Range is hosting AGS in Alliance, OH. While I enjoy a good rifle or CQB course, protection courses can also be extremely beneficial. Whether going to the mall with our family or taking our significant other on a trip out of state, having an understanding of the skills protection agents utilize can enhance our planning and awareness. This is a 5 day course with a full day training scenario on the last day.

Its approaching the lowly gun writer’s favorite time of the year – product release season. After a quiet summer where companies have buckled down across an industry slowdown and focused on research and development, we are starting the season where they release said products – either before Christmas to take advantage of hunting/present seasons or SHOTShow here in January.

Since I have been working on this Roland Special series recently, many of you have asked why I need a comp on a Glock 19. You ask if the recoil is too much or point out that it can direct gasses back at the shooter. Well, the truth is, I don’t need a compensator on a 9mm, I want one.

Strike Industries is at it again with their new G4 Slidecomp  Glock compensator that requires nothing other than you owning a 9mm Gen 4 gun. That’s right, no threaded barrel, no expensive porting, just a stock Gen 4 Glock in 9mm. So why is this exciting? Well, if you haven’t shot a comped gun, there isn’t much that is quite like it in terms of getting the gun back on target quickly.

Primary Machine has dropped some new Glock compensators that look eerily like the KKM Two Port compensator (I currently have one in for evaluation, review coming soon). This isn’t the first Glock comp to be launched that is reminiscent of the proven KKM style, Texas Black Rifle Company was the first offshoot with the Micro Comp. Scoff at the addition of an external compensator if you like, but there are benefits like keeping the lens of a flashlight clean or reducing recoil. I know for a fact that a good comp can tame a 9mm to where it feels like you are shooting a .22 making follow up shots lightning fast.

The renowned 1911 builder is bringing out a new compensator that will not only keep the recoil of your AR-15 in check but keep it to a dull roar while doing so. The new Q-Comp muzzle device was designed by Wilson’s own “compensator experts” to enhance recoil control under rapid fire conditions without pissing your range buddy off. We all have that one shooting partner that fits a ridiculous brake onto their rifle then shows up to the range with quiet determination to tear the very fabric of space in half with nothing more than muzzle blast. Instead of punching them, now you can suggest they pick up the Q-Comp to save your precious hearing.
