POTD: The MK38 25mm Machine Gun
The U.S. Navy calls their firearms whatever they like, so the MK38 (M242 Bushmaster), chambered in 25x137mm, is a Machine Gun and nothing else. That is the featured image in our Photo Of The Day taken on-board the USS Shiloh in the spring of 2020. Location: the Philippine Sea. The USS Shiloh (CG 67) is a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser and the photos are from a live-fire weapons training.
POTD: Jump! The Russian Way To Fire a Kalashnikov
In our Photo Of The Day, we have Russian acrobats armed with AKs. Hopefully, they have all their pockets closed during this performance. We look forward to your best captions in the comments section below.
POTD: Close-In Weapons System (CIWS)
Photo Of The Day – A close-in weapon system, or CIWS for short, is a point-defense weapon system for detecting and destroying incoming missiles and enemy aircraft which may have penetrated the outer defenses. It looks a bit like R2D2 in Star Wars when it has its full suite of panels on. It works well on drones.
POTD: Close-in Weapons System (M62 Vulcan)
Today’s Photo Of The Day is an R2D2 look-alike that goes “ Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrttt“, as enemy objects close-in.
