Chip McCormick Custom Acquired by Wilson Combat
As 2017 came to a close, Wilson Combat announced it had acquired the Chip McCormick Custom/Shooting Star Industries. Chip McCormick Custom is well known for manufacturing quality 1911-style magazines. After acquisition, the company will be known as CMC/Shooting Star Industries.
Chip McCormick Railed Power Mags
Chip McCormick of CMC Mags has been designing 1911 pistol magazines for decades. His latest development of the 1911 magazine is pretty interesting. What makes these mags different is the design of the feed lips. As you can see in the images, the metal in feed lip area is folded inward making it a stronger construction. The magazines with this folded feed lips are called Railed Power Mags (RPM).

The 1911 is over 100 years old (and quickly approaching 110 at that) and yet companies are still putting time, money, investment, and energy into new products for the platform. Latest to the fore is FirstSpear, a small innovative company focusing on new products and rapid development. Typically known for their first-rate tactical nylon, it would seem they are expanding into hard weapons accessories.
