The world of carry guns has changed wildly in the last 20 years and it’s always interesting to look at where we started and how far we came in the last two decades. There were a number of good carry guns like the HK USP and Glock 19 and although there were a few small carry guns chambered 9mm, the small 9mm pistols didn’t really start to come into the market strong until the 2000s. I’ve bought and carried almost every single gun on this list. Let’s take a closer look at the evolution of micro carry guns and see where things began, the progression to modern day and what the micro carry gun market is turning into.

An extremely common question I get when looking at the world of carrying concealed is when to upgrade your carry gun. The firearms industry does a fantastic job throwing new models that up capacity and features on our handguns making it extremely tempting to upgrade every 1-2 years. When thinking about carrying a concealed firearm, it’s easy to focus on one specific item rather than the overall big picture. It’s important to look at different aspects as a bigger picture rather than only worrying about just what knife you carry or what type of gun is best for you any given day. There’s a number of things everyone should at least consider carrying when they leave their house with a firearm. Now everyone may have different opinions on the matter, and that’s totally fine but just keep in mind this can be a flexible list depending on your preferences and needs for daily carry. Probably, one of my favorite things about the gun community is the amount of experiences and knowledge circling among us. While talking with a friend last week, I started thinking about the cost vs reward of carry guns we have day in and day out. What we don’t think about is what happens after we use a firearm in a self-defense situation. Often times our concealed carry guns will be held in evidence for a number of months or even years, often without any care in a plastic bag. While it’s important to have a carry gun which fits your shooting style, but is it worth carrying a high-end handgun for self-defense when it will be seized for months at a time? Small carry guns are about as polarizing as the new Star Wars movies or which way the toilet paper roll goes when its time to refill. Depending on who you talk with, small guns will either be a great resource or completely useless. There’s plenty of arguments for and against carrying an extremely small gun for concealment. Whether it’s for exercise, carrying when it’s difficult, or just finding something comfortable there are plenty of realistic reasons to carry a micro gun.
