Typically, once a platform is discontinued by its manufacturer, the aftermarket slowly folds. Few new products are released (unless the platform is alive through other companies) so it comes as a surprise that Mec-Gar, a manufacturer of fine firearms magazines, has announced the release of new Browning BDA magazines with a 10-round maximum capacity.

Browning announced that its Speed Load Tactical knife is now shipping to customers. This folding knife was introduced earlier this year.

The United States House of Representatives has just passed their version of the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and included within it is a provision that will mandate the release of all M1911 handguns currently in US Army inventory to the Civilian Marksmanship Program, for distribution to eligible US civilians. The new bill would overwrite the 2016 NDAA, which allowed for the release of 10,000 of the pistols, but did not mandate it. The text of Section 1064 of the 2018 NDAA is as follows:

Putting more pressure on the competition, Browning has released multiple new Buck Mark handguns to the market. The new releases cover a large swatch of niches including lightweight models and various additions to the Buck Mark Plus line up. Like all the previous Buck Mark handguns, the new Buck Mark handguns are made in the USA on a machined aluminum frame, operate on reliable blowback action, and have crisp single-action triggers with adjustable sights.

While not a true copy of the original Browning Auto-5 semi-automatic shotgun, the recent A5 shotgun from Browning fills much of the void left behind by the venerable original. Some might contend it’s setting its own unique legacy – something which Browning is obviously pushing towards with the release of their new High-Grade Hunter.

Browning announced the availability of five new 1911-380 pistols to its line. Two of the pistols fall into the company’s limited availability category, while the balance are part of its current production category.

At the recent SHOT Show, Browning introduced new shotguns under the title of Wicked Wing. While there are variations of each, the autoloading shotguns come down to two basic forms: the A5 and the Maxus. Browning positions these guns as a personalization of your hunting firearm similar to a “lift kit and bigger tires on the truck” or “even a tattoo.” These specific guns features the Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blades camo pattern.

Its hard not to enjoy a good bolt-action rifle. The action is completely satisfying: unlock, pull, push, and close the action. With fine, smooth guns, it’s a therapy unto itself.

Browning Ammunition recently introduced the BXV line: a new line of hunting ammo designed for predator and varmint shooting. The ammunition uses small caliber, lightweight bullets at velocities in excess of 3,000 fps to achieve flat shooting loads with immediate expansion in the target.

Browning is now fully supporting the 6.5 Creedmoor across much of its rifle line. Introduced in 2007, this cartridge has caught on with a lot of shooters in the past few years. As a result, I’ve seen a lot of companies introduce new guns for this cartridge and update old lines to include it. Browning introduced 6.5 Creedmoor versions of many of its rifles this year.

Over the past two weeks, we’ve been taking a look at some of the firearms from the Museum’s vault which are not on display, and today we have another very special firearm for your viewing pleasure.
