BREAKING: The Brownells Acquire AR15.Com

AR15.com, the popular and long-serving forum for all things AR-15, and by extension firearms related, has been acquired by the  2nd Adventure Group. AR15.com, set up way back in 1996, joined the 2nd Adventure Group family which includes Brownells, Big Springs, Crow Shooting Supplies, Sinclair International and W.L. Baumler Co. and is owned by Pete and Frank Brownell.  An announcement post, shared on AR15.com on June 3, said the site will continue as it always has but is looking forward to new user interface improvements and a secured continued online presence.

IN FROM BROWNELLS: Tommy Built T36C – H&K G36 Look-A-Like

Brownells has just announced the availability of the Tommy Built Tactical T36C – a revamp of the famed Heckler & Koch G36 assault rifle. This one, of course is semiautomatic only, and is sold as a pistol. For those interested in jumping into the ATF eForms Form 1 world, a tax stamp for making your T36C pistol into a rifle is just $200 and maybe two weeks away. Brownells sells a stock for the G36, but it shows out of stock at the moment.

Brownells Add BRN-180S: a Short-Barreled BRN-180

Good news for AR-18/180 lovers looking for that shorter package, Brownells have introduced the new BRN-180S, a short barreled version of their BRN-180 upper assembly. Now available for pre-order the BRN-180S has a 10.5″ barrel with an M-LOK handguard and the new short barrel has a .223 Wylde chamber.

[SHOT 2019] Brownells Releases New Retro, and New Optics

Brownells had the most announcements of anyone I visited here at SHOT SHOW. It took me most of one morning just gathering the info on their SHOT SHOW releases. Brownells 'Clyde' and Amazon 'Alexa' Debate AR15 vs AK47 (April Fools)

Brownells .458 SOCOM and .450 Bushmaster AR-15 Barrels

Brownells has introduced big bore AR-15 barrels chambered in .458 SOCOM and .450 Bushmaster. The barrels for both caliber options come with the bolts and three-chamber muzzle brakes. Apparently these are custom profile barrels made by Faxon Firearms specifically for Brownells. In a recently published new products announcement video, Brownells’ employee Paul Levy says: “these are specific profiles that we requested from Faxon“. You can find that video embedded below.

[BREAKING] Brownells Acquiring And Importing HK 416/417 Parts From Germany

During my trip to Germany last week, I took a special trip up to Hamburg, Germany to visit Zib Militaria. Zib is a surplus dealer in some rare gun parts. Heiko, the owner, has acquired some rare machine gun parts as well as stock piled a bunch of HK goodies. Among them are piles of HK 416 and 417 parts along with guns minus the barrels and bolts. This is due to the laws regarding firearm components in Germany. While I was there, I learned that Brownells has bought a majority these components and is planning to import them for sale in the US.

To say that firearms optics technology has advanced in the last decade would be an understatement. Sure, it’s all relative – the original jump from iron sights to optical magnification must have seemed to the marksman of the day like peering into the future.
