Remember the old ALOFS system? It was made in 1924 by Herman Alofs. It was a magazine tube autoloader that you can bolt onto a single-shot break action shotgun. Well a company in Turkey, Sulun Arms, is making modern versions called Auslof, and Canada is importing them. Sometimes Canada gets cool stuff like this.

Happy Thanksgiving! Since turkey is a staple for the holiday what is your go to Turkey Gun?

A custom Thompson Center Encore break action pistol is on my short list of must-have unique guns. The one thing that has kept the Encore on my wish list and not a reality (besides the cash reserves) is caliber choice. For a pistol this special, it needs the right round to make it all worthwhile. If I had to pick right now, I’d go with a match chamber .22 long rifle. One option for a fully custom Encore is Bullberry Barrel Works.

Earlier I posted a video about the Beretta UGB25 XCEL. A friend of mine told me about a similar shotgun called Cosmi. The Cosmi is more like a traditional Semi-Auto shotgun since it has an 8rd capacity. The action does break open similarly to the UGB25, however the Cosmi does not have an extended magazine tube. Instead, it stores the shells in the stock.

Hatsan, known for their PCP Air Rifles (which we reviewed here), has announced the release of a break-action air rifle for the US market. Available in three calibers, the MOD87 Q. (Which the “Q” is for Quiet Energy – meaning integrated suppressor), the air rifle can propel pellets at 1000 fps (.177), 800 fps (.22), and 650 fps (.25).

We posted an article back in 2008 about Beretta’s UGB25 XCEL. Not exactly a name that rolls off the tongue. A400 XCEL sounds better. Anyway, I have not heard or seen this type of action before, so I found this video that explains the side feed system and shows it in slow motion.

Gamo, known for their air guns and air rifles has released a youth-oriented “precision” and “tactical” air gun. The new G-Force Tac users Gamo’s standard break-action to achieve up to 750 FPS velocity (using Gamo’s PBA Platinum pellets).

Legacy Sports (which includes brands like Citadel, Kryptek, and Howa) has introduced the Pointer break-action shotgun. The Pointer break-action is a no-nonsense kind of firearm, using the simplest operation for a cartridge-base firearm possible: hammer-fired, single-action, break-action.

Not sure if it’s a recurring theme yet, but there have been a few companies at SHOT here talking about their single-shot break-action rifles. There’s nothing super new for AAC, but they talked to me about their “Handi-Rifle” which comes in 300 AAC BLACKOUT.
