For many years Boyds has been the main name that comes to mind when it comes to replacement hunting rifle stocks.  The classic models offer an excellent choice for a straightforward replacement and the AT One has always been the tricked-out model for those who want tons of adjustability.  For the longest time, I always found myself wanting a model in between with an adjustable length of pull but none of the extra bells and whistles of the AT One. Enter the Agility stock. The Agility offers the ergonomics of the AT One and the adjustable length of pull while retaining a more traditional look and feel.

Boyds Gunstocks is a company that is well known for the sheer amount of options that they have in terms of customization when it comes to their high-quality laminate gunstocks. Their previous list of laminate color options has been slowly growing over the years and today they’ve just announced the addition of their new “Hornet” color variation featuring a grey/yellow pattern.

The folks over at Boyds Gunstocks are in the business of refreshing the old and bringing in the new. Boyds laminate gunstocks are in my opinion some of the best aftermarket wood stocks that you can get for the money and they recently sent me over one of their AT-ONE rifle stocks. The Boyds AT-ONE series of stocks is meant to take your old bolt action rifle and breathe new life into it and I personally think the Boys AT-ONE adds a lot of functionality to an otherwise unimpressive and old rifle. For this review, I used an entry-level Remington 770 chambered in .270 Winchester – a popular hunting cartridge down here in the south. Today we’ll go over some of the features of the AT-ONE stock, my experiences with installing it, and how it adds to the value of an otherwise budget-minded hunting rifle and turns it into something more functional for only a couple hundred dollars.

Boyds Gunstocks is the world’s largest manufacturer of aftermarket wooden firearms furniture. They’ve been in business for four decades and grown massively in that time. You can buy stocks they already have in their inventory, from their site’s “Rapid Fire” catalogue, or use their Configurator Tool to custom-build your personal one-off. This hardwood specialist shop’s list of supported firearms makes and models is already impressively long, but they continue to expand it. They’ve just announced the addition of options for the Zastava M70 bolt-action rifle (not to be confused with some of their AK models that also carry an M70 designation).

In a time where polymer and plastic is popular, Boyds Gunstocks is still producing high quality hardwood and laminate stocks for a large variety of long guns. I recently hard the opportunity to sit down (virtually)with Dustin Knutson from Boyds and talk about everything from proper stock fitment and bedding to the 40 year anniversary of their creation. Headquartered in South Dakota, the Boyds team takes a fun, laid back approach to business in the firearms industry, providing customers with beautiful stocks and top notch customer service. When shooters hear the name Steyr Arms, most probably think of the AUG right away. They can even outfit some old-school or obscure makes and models, like JC Penney and Sears (yes, they used to sell guns – many moons ago!) with replacement wood. You can even have them outfit your modern AR-15 with wood furniture, with brands like BCM, Knight’s Armament, and Spike’s Tactical on the options list.
