My first exposure to Battle Arms Development’s OIP project was at SHOT 2019.  It’s one thing to read press releases, it’s another thing entirely to test fire an example of a gun.  Personally, I couldn’t believe both the light (3.8lbs) weight of the OIP2 rifle and the fact that the rifle didn’t have a corresponding increase in recoil. Duly impressed, I decided to save up for an OIP 2 rifle of my own.

Rosco Manufacturing is a producer of precision rifle barrels based in Rhode Island. They have over 50,000 square feet of production space focused on making barrels. Battle Arms Development, Inc. (B.A.D. Inc.) based in Henderson, Nevada, focuses on small arms design. In a new collaboration between the companies,  Battle Arms Development are going to use Rosco Mfg.’s barrels in at least seven pistols, rifles and the SBR pictured below.

New for Battle Arms Development is a foray into the AK world.  Fellow Nevadans Battle Arms Development and Rifle Dynamics have come up with a pretty cool Patriotic War-themed AK pistol.  Dubbed the “T-34”, the new pistol is made on a Rifle Dynamics RD 704 receiver with their 90 degree gas block.  Topping off the barrel is a Battle Arms Thumper muzzle device.  On the tail end is B.A.D.’s very robust metal side folding VERT tube attached to a Tailhook Mod.1 brace.  This firearm will be a distributor exclusive and pricing has not yet been set.

Looking a bit like Mjölnir, The Norse God Thor’s Hammer, Battle Arms Development have made a billet AR-rifle display stand.

Battle Arms Development has first introduced the prototype of RACK ambidextrous AR-15 charging handle at SHOT Show 2018. Recently, they released more information about this charging handle and announced that it is now available for preorder.

I have to confess … when I first heard about the availability of these barrels, I was hesitating to write about it because “just another Glock barrel” sounds like a really boring subject. But after a little bit of research and chatting with the company officials, I discovered that these are not just rebranded barrels that were made by a large manufacturer. These new barrels are completely made by the Battle Arms Development with a rather interesting and unique technology that I am not aware of any other manufacturer doing it like that. Let’s first see how the company describes the process of making their barrels:

For this episode, we took a trip to the folks at Battle Arms Development in Las Vegas and were able to get our hands on some of the companies newest rifle entries that were premiered at SHOT this year. The Tanker and the Paratrooper is sort of the manifestation of Battle Arms in the company entering the full rifle market from the parts manufacturing business. They also have a lightweight piece, a .308 rifle, but these aren’t covered as much in the episode above.

Recently we received an opportunity to sit down with one of the founders and current leader of Battle Arms Development, George Huang at the companies new location in Las Vegas. We discussed everything from the beginnings of the organization to how George applies his architectural engineering background to designing eye-catching and reliable AR15s.

Battle Arms Development (BAD) came to NRA 2018 with a handful of new items designed for form, versatility, and function as well as being aesthetically pleasing. George Huang, owner and CEO of BAD spent some time with TFB going over the assortment of AR and Glock accessories his company displayed at the show.

Battle Arms Development introduced two SBRs chambered in .300 BLK with 7.5-inch barrels as apart of a new historically themed product release. The difference between these two SBRs is the fact that on the Tanker, the buffer tube is a separate piece from the lower receiver, attached to it via a short buffer tube, (MSRP is $2,999.99). Battle Arms Development calls this the BAD-CSS VERT PDW Stock System. However with the Paratrooper model, the telescoping stock is machined into the lower from 7075-T6  billet aluminum (MSRP $3,050.00). This is their BAD-PDW Monolithic PDW Lower Receiver & VERT Stock System.
