At the SHOT Show 2022 Industry Day at the Range, MKS Supply brought the recently released Barnaul subsonic 9x19mm ammunition and offered to test it in a suppressed full-auto 9mm AR … few things are more fun than that! Let’s see what specs this subsonic 9mm ammunition has.

If you shoot suppressed, you like the quieter experience that a silencer provides. Hearing-safe shooting is the main benefit to a can, right? One issue that may arise is that most common ammo isn’t designed to perform at subsonic levels. This means that even though your suppressor will help in containing the rapidly expanding gases propelling your bullet – and thus the flash and sound this creates – if and when that projectile breaks the sound barrier in flight, it will make a popping noise that is actually a tiny sonic boom. The quietest suppressed shooting typically requires the use of subsonic ammo. 300 Blackout was designed primarily intending to do just this, although supersonic .300BLK options like Barnaul‘s 145-grain loads do exist.

Russian Barnaul Cartridge Plant in collaboration with Molot Arms has developed a new PCC cartridge called 9mm Altay. Like the .366 TKM, 9.6×53 Lancaster, .345 TK and .366 Magnum, this cartridge is also designed for the special breed of Russian guns that thanks to their rifling design legally qualify as shotguns yet provide performance close to a rifled gun chambered in a similar caliber.

Barnaul Cartridge Plant has announced that the  steel-cased 300 Blackout ammunition which they first introduced  at the end of the past year, has now arrived at stateside and is available for purchase. Currently, depending on the quantity you buy (20 or 500 rounds) this ammo will cost you from $0.41 to $0.43 per round (Brownells prices). That is $8.59 per box of 20, or $205.99 for a 500-round carton.

A couple of months ago, while reading the news from Arms & Hunting 2019 exhibition, I learned that the Barnaul Cartridge Plant has introduced steel-cased 300 Blackout ammunition. It was immediately clear to me that this ammunition can’t be aimed to the domestic market because .300 Blackout is not a thing in Russia. You literally can’t find in Russia guns chambered in .300 Blackout.

Barnaul recently released a new, reasonably priced, steel-cased .30-06 Springfield load with a “mysterious” feature. It is probably already pretty obvious from the title image, but let’s first see what the company says about it.

K-VAR Corp. has announced that the new Brown Bear 7.62x39mm Subsonic ammunition is now available in the US. As in the case of other Brown Bear branded ammunition, the new subsonic 7.62x39mm ammo is also made in Russia by the Barnaul Cartridge Plant. Their plans to introduce these subsonic loads to the US market were announced at SHOT Show 2019.
