I, for one, enjoy reading through the formal legal decisions penned by judges. While it has the term “decision” the documents are actually the logical and legal rationale for the court’s decision – the basis of which various appeals will be based on. So when the decision was released from the recent preliminary injunction keeping the latest California restrictions from going into effect, I was naturally curious to understand the rationale for the decision.

California-based firearms owners are now in the midst of their legislative squeeze. While the politics are indeed outside our scope here at TFB, it can be hard to untangle the pacing of legislative restrictions and new inventions that show the true “letter of the law”.

In a Memorandum published September 24, the Nevada Department of Wildlife, Law Enforcement Division has published suggested updates to NAC 503.142, which would ban the use of TrackingPoint and similar weapons for hunting in the state. In a rather swift reaction to “Cecil the Lions” unfortunate (and illegal) demise, Delta, United, & American Airlines have all banned the cargo shipment of hunting trophies on their aircraft. The ban is largely symbolic as most big-game hunters are wealthy and either ship on their own aircraft, ships, or through cargo services.
