Good evening everyone and welcome back to another Friday Night Lights. Last week I wrote about the PAS-28 MRTB, a medium range thermal bi-ocular. Well today is tangentially related, it is the BAE Oasys RED-I (Remote Eye Display – Imager). A monocle HUD for remote viewing thermal images.

A new kind of face appears on the battlefield, as soldiers use the ENVG III night vision device. It’s interesting to see it mounted outside a gas mask, but train as you fight I guess. This Photo Of The Day was taken at the Goldmine Training Area in South Korea last month. The caption reads:

In our Photo Of The Day, we take a look at the U.S. Army’s Family of Weapon Sights-Crew Served (FWS-CS) made by BAE Systems. The system is designed for integration with the M2 .50-caliber machine gun, MK19 grenade launcher or the M240 machine gun. It has a laser range finder that provides automatically adjusted crosshairs directly onto the soldier’s helmet-mounted display.

Photo Of The Day – We take a look at a BAE Systems (Hägglunds) CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicle as it fires an anti-tank guided missile. CV stands for Combat Vehicle. The missile is a fire-and-forget made in Israel by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. It is called Spike LR.

BAE Systems has announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding with a Canadian company called Helios Global Technologies to further develop liquid armor technologies. Although liquid armor developments have started a while ago (the early 2000s), this announcement from BAE Systems seems to be a move towards the creation of a certain military product.

Bae Systems has a credit card sized thermal mono-sight. This thing is tiny. Here it is with an Aimpoint micro. It is about the same size as a magnifier. It can be yours for a low low price of $11,500, according to this website.
