TFB Review: A Year With The Mystery Ranch 2-Day Assault Pack
Mystery Ranch is one of the biggest names in outdoor backpacks. They make a wide range of hiking, hunting, wildfire, and military bags. Recently I found myself in need of a dedicated backpack to haul my writing gear to the range. The 2-Day Assault Pack looked like a good option so I picked one up. This review will cover my experiences using it on and off the range over the course of the last year.
Elite Survival Systems Introduces Guardian EDC Backpack
While it’s commonly held that on-body concealed carry is highly preferable, in some situations this may not be feasible. In such circumstances, a backpack might be the chosen method of carry. If that’s the case, it would probably not be best to simply toss your handgun into a backpack just loose, bouncing around the bottom of your old Jansport with forgotten pens and pencils. Enter Elite Survival Systems, with their Guardian EDC backpack. This backpack is purpose-built, intended specifically for the off-body concealed carrier with dedicated compartments and design elements meant to optimize backpack EDC. Check out Elite Survival Systems’ press release for the Guardian EDC backpack below.

ISDEF 2019: Aleppo Systems Feeding Box
Backpack feed systems are nothing new to light machine gun design, these examples dating to the early days of the AR10 and AR15, in addition to modern Russian concepts, and even a Libyan take on the idea.
EDC With The Haley Strategic FlatPack
There are endless tactical black or multi-cam bags on the market claiming to be “low profile”. These same bags display numerous Velcro patches, have pals webbing on the outside of the bag, and scream gun! However, the industry is starting to listen to those wanting a quality pack in a very non-descript package. In order to accomplish this task, the bag has to be able to sit next to your standard North Face or Jansport pack and not look substantially different. Let’s take a look at the Haley Strategic FlatPack.
Rickey Red Tests If School Textbooks Can Stop Bullets
Rickey Red posted up two videos on social media. He believes that the textbooks our kids carry everyday could possibly save their lives. He tests some “government issued textbooks” to see if they can stop bullets.

TFB Review: G.P.S "Handgunner" Shooting backpack
Go Outdoors Products is a Chino, California-based gear company that focuses on the shooting accessories and gear that make range trips that much more enjoyable and hassle free. The company has been around for a little while now, and much of their line of products has been out on the market, online, and in numerous gun stores across the nation and possible internationally too. So although they aren’t the next new awesome device or brand, they make products that in my opinion are very well thought out at the budget price you are getting them at.
New Copper Basin Takedown Firearm Backpack
In recent years, discreet carry bags – especially those for long guns – have become more popular with some in the shooting community. As a guy who likes to travel, I can certainly appreciate the need for having a non-obvious gun bag when strolling through the lobby of a hotel. After all, I neither want to leave a rifle in the trunk of a rental car nor let everyone know that I am toting “something tactical” up to my room.
The New D3 Flatpack Plus from Haley Strategic
Haley Strategic announced a new backpack called the D3 Flatpack Plus. According to the company, this is a hybrid bag that is intended to bridge “the gap between a smaller assaulter pack and a full sized day pack.”
Maxpedition's New Tiburon
Fair warning: I’m a fan of Maxpedition bags and packs and have been for nearly a decade. Almost 10 years ago, I bought my first bag, the Monsoon, from the company. At the time, I wasn’t sure if the cost of the bag was worth it. Since then, I’ve learned that for the quality of the bags – both in terms of functionality and durability – these bags are relatively inexpensive.
