In recent years, 9mm carbines have been hitting the market in various styles, and the Side Charge, Bear Creek Arsenal BC-9 Carbine, is a unique offering in its own right. The BC-9 is based around the AR-15 style platform and accepts Glock pattern magazines, but as the title implies, the action is operated by a lever on the side of the gun, rather than the traditional AR charging handle at the top rear of the receiver. When walking down the aisles of SHOT Show 2023, Dead Foot Arms’ AR-MP9 caught my attention. It is not a secret I am a fan of the MP5 and I find AR9s that mimic MP5’s interesting.
