In the realm of laser training, Mantis is a well-recognized brand known for its comprehensive range of products. In recent developments, the company has set out to upgrade its Blackbeard system for the year 2024, making it available for platforms beyond the AR-15. The new upgrades will include compatibility with AR-10, AK, Scar 17, and Scar 16.

HERA Arms from Germany have an interesting product in their “7SIX2“, which of course comes from the caliber 7.62 mm. It’s basically a semi-automatic AR clone with a 16.75″ barrel, a KeyMod handguard, an HRS buttstock and a sports compensator. The price is around 2,959.00 EUR, roughly the same in US dollars.  

Georgia-based firearms manufacturer 21st Tec is proud to introduce their new rifle that combines the 7.62×29 cartridge with the DPMS/LR308 AR10 platform – the TEC47 rifle. The TEC47 uses some unique parts to allow the rifle to feed from common AK mags, and cycle reliably with the 7.62x39mm cartridge. These rifles are in current production and will be selling for a suggested MSRP of $1,399 beginning on September 29th of this year.

It seems that 2022 is bringing back the heat regarding AR10 rifles. Type-A Rifle Co/BG Defense joins the fray with their new Ambi Billet AR10 line of rifles. The new line of Type-A rifles will come with the same high-end components and construction that Type-A is well known for. Type-A is also proud to announce that most of the components in the new Ambi Billet AR10 rifle lineup will be made in-house from their facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Mission First Tactical is in the business of making affordable AR-15 accessories and they’ve recently released a new set of magazines specifically designed for the 7.62×51 NATO cartridge. The new MFG Extreme Duty Magazines are now available for use with SAAMI-spec 7.62×51 and .308 Winchester ammunition. The new magazines will be made available in both black and flat dark earth and according to Mission First Tactical, these magazines were made in cooperation with Frank DeSomma from Patriot Ordnance Factory and as such, these magazines are dedicated to his memory.

I can’t really explain why I have wanted to try an AR-10 pistol out but it’s been a long time coming. It’s something about having such a hard-hitting round in a compact package. Let’s be honest, I know some of you are going to say I’m insane for wanting a short 308 AR pistol. I get it, you’d have to be a drunk mad man to own something so concussive in such a small package. All of those are probably valid but don’t jump to conclusions just yet. For the longest time, I kept going back and forth between building an AR-10 pistol and buying one ready to go out of the gate. After looking around for a few months, I came across the Type-A’s 10.5 308 AR pistol. I gave them a call and we figured out a gun that would work for my needs.

Hakan Spuhr has been thinking about his new project off and on since 2012. They’ve actually been working on this rifle for a while, it was originally called the Osprey MK36 rifle and was being developed by Osprey Armament which is now Overmatch Precision Arms. The Black Rain Ordnance BRO Predator 6.5 Creedmoor is a new offering from this Missouri company that continues to build excellent AR15 and AR10 rifles. Black Rain Ordnance just moved into their new 27,000 square foot facility.  They manufacture almost every part of their rifles in-house with the exception of the Magpul Miad grip and PRS stock.

JP Enterprises debuted their new drop-in modular trigger and ambi safety packaging at SHOT Show 2018 this year. Originally introduced in 2004, the JPFC-M is back, newly redesigned to not just replicate but innovate.

The AR platform keeps attracting new cartridges like moths to a flame.  While it may be tiresome to see the same basic profile over and over again with new cartridges and configurations, there is sound rationale behind this phenomenon.  The platform is extremely modular, accurate, and adaptable to many different disciplines within the shooting world.
