Free "Gun Disassembly 2" App A Fun Learning Tool
As a gunsmith I sometimes find myself squinting at poorly scanned schematics of rare guns. Stumped halfway through a project, I scratch my head trying to figure out how the doohickey is held in place by the whatsit and what the doohickey’s function actually is in there. That’s probably why I think the free Gun Disassembly 2 app from Noble Empire is so cool. Available for iPhone, Android, Macs and PCs, the program is a wealth of knowledge about what is inside your favorite gun and how it actually works.
Real Strike Augmented Reality iPhone App
The developers of the Real Strike, an “3D Augmented Reality FPS Gun App”, sent us an email asking to have their app reviewed. I was intrigued so I paid the $2.99 it cost and downloaded the app. The app displays video from the iPhone/iPod/iPad rear camera and superimposes video game style guns. It was pretty nifty, for about two minutes. I had expected an app with the words “3D”, “Augmented Reality” and “FPS” to actually allow me to interact with an augmented reality like, for example, shoot virtual targets.
