American Built Arms Company (A*B Arms) has added more compatibility to their MOD*X GEN III Modular Rifle System. The MOD*X GEN III is now available for the Bergara B-14 which is Bergara’s performance rifle series featuring their world-renowned Bergara Barrel and 2 lug action. Airforce Airguns, maker of the “ most powerful production air rifle“, just announced a partnership with American Built Arms Company. The Pennsylvanian company, best known for their Mod*X rifle chassis, will be the OEM of several component and accessories for the Texas based airgun manufacturer.

(Authors note: Howa/Legacy Sports International did not work with American Built Arms on this project. American Built arms sourced a Howa barreled action and mated it with their Mod X chassis)

Last year we reviewed the Mod*X chassis for the short action Remington 700 from American Built Arms and were very pleased with it. Since then they have offered two revisions, the latest one being Gen 3 was on display at SHOT. When I walked up to the booth I was very surprised when I saw my goofy looking mug on the TV. AB Arms had several Youtube review videos playing and I just happened to walk up at the right time. Pretty cool! I spent some time visiting with the AB Arms guys and found that they paid attention to every review they got as well as customer feedback and made a ton of changes to the chassis system.

American Built Arms announced the company will show the new MOD*X GEN III Modular Rifle System at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas. The chassis is designed to be a lightweight drop-in for the Remington 700 short action. The unit weighs about three pounds and two ounces.

I will be the first to admit that before I started this article, I wasn’t too well versed in aftermarket chassis systems and the benefit of them. I spent a bunch of time reading and learning about the different options out there, what features mattered to me and which ones didn’t. Once the AB Arms Mod*X Modular Rifle System showed up at my door, I felt a bit more prepared to put it through it’s paces.

American Built Arms Company (A*B Arms) is now manufacturing a rifle chassis for the Remington 700 short action called the Mod*X. The system weighs less than four pounds and carries a suggested retail price of $799.

When shopping for BCG’s for an AR 15 build there are many who are of the opinion there’s not much difference between them other than price. If you do your homework you’ll find there aren’t that many companies making complete bolt carrier groups or the bolts themselves. The majority of companies selling AR’s purchase these parts from companies specializing in the manufacture of BCG’s and other AR parts.
