Muzzle Dip? Strange Unexplained Physics In Non-Firearm Pistol Recoil
As you might have guessed from some of the articles I have written this year, I have been going down a slow-motion camera rabbit hole. On a forum for the Chronos high-speed camera, I came across a user’s video recording airsoft guns in high speed. What caught my attention was a peculiar event when he shot semi-automatic gas blowback pistols that have reciprocating slides. As the slide reciprocates back, the pistol exhibits muzzle dip. I was confused by what I was seeing so I investigated further.

SIG Sauer has published a press release announcing that the SIG AIR Reflex Sight, which was introduced at the beginning of the year, is now shipping. Ammo And Gun Shortage? Dry Fire Training With Practisim VR
Three years ago, Pete wrote about the Practisim VR shooting simulator. Well, it has popped up again in the hands of probably the best dryfire practitioner on the planet, Liku_Tactical. If you recall, exactly one year ago, Liku_Tactical was flown from Japan to shoot firearms for the first time in his life with his mentor Lucas of TREX Arms. Well, he continues to practice and he is doing dry fire training with Practisim VR.
Umarex Introduces Airsoft Glock 45 Pistols
Umarex has added an airsoft Glock 45 pistol to their line of Glock airguns that were first introduced in September of 2017. Back then, Glock for the first time officially licensed the manufacturing of airsoft replicas of their pistols. Let’s see what features the new Umarex Glock 45 packs.
Concealed Carry Corner: Ways to Practice Shooting From Home
There is no denying, the last few weeks have been a little odd around the world. Normal daily practices like going out to dinner or hitting the range on a free day, have completely stopped. The number one complaint with shooters in my area is the lack of open ranges. Here in Michigan, most of the public ranges and indoor ranges have been shut down for public safety, so it really is difficult to find an accessible place to shoot if you don’t have private land.
US Coast Guard Pick SIG P229 Airsoft Pistol for Training
SIG Sauer have snagged another government contract but it’s not one you might expect. The US Coast Guard have selected the SIG AIR Pro Force P229 Airsoft Pistol for training cadets and Coast Guardsmen.
Airsoft Alternative Training | SHOT 2017
Gunpower Inc, is a South Korean company that has introduced training equipment very similar to the currently issued MILES used by a number of militaries around the world. The equipment is called the GPR System and comes with a full suite of products. The catch is that the system is purely Airsoft based. It uses a sort of flak jacket and Kevlar helmet that senses a 6mm BB hit. Once the equipment is hit, the user’s Airsoft rifle is essentially deactivated and the user is more or less put out of action. It uses a electronic frequency to sends signals between the gear and the user’s rifle to accomplish this.
Curious case of Mad Bull Airsoft in Iraq
If you looked at this photograph and thought to yourself, “This looks like a 40x46mm Low Velocity grenade launcher, but it is unlike any launcher currently used by any Military/LE force”, then you’d be halfway to a solid conclusion. However if you are really into Airsoft, you’d probably instantly recognize it for what it is, a Mad Bull Airsoft grenade launcher made in Taiwan. But then what in the world is it doing on a “Real Steel” AR rifle? In Iraq?
POTD: Weapons Seized In Japan
This photo has been going around Social Media. At first glance it seems like quite the weapons cache. But upon closer inspection not all of these are weapons. The pistols are laying next to airsoft magazines. The Playboy is clearly not dangerous. At the bottom right corner is a toy prop from a popular live action show called Kamen Rider Faiz. I could not find an actual article about this weapons seizure to find the context of the image above. If anyone can read Japanese, what does the sign say at the top of the image? The briefcase of, what appears to look like drugs, is covering up part of the sign.
