The First Remington R51 Gen 2s Are HERE
One week ago, we reported that Remington had distributed letters to owners of the troubled first generation R51 pistols that their replacements from the new second-generation were ready to be shipped. Since then, YouTuber and R51 buyer RyeOnHam has received his second generation R51 replacement pistol, and released a first look video on the weapon, embedded below:
BREAKING: Remington Reintroduces the R51 Pistol
Remington has just informed purchasers of the original R51 pistol that the second model – which aims to fix the issues of the initial production version – is now ready to be shipped. Remington has taken the extra step for initial buyers of the R51 of not releasing the new improved model to the wider market until all original R51 customers get their chance to receive a new pistol first. The letter below was sent out to Remington R51 customers earlier today ( thanks to Russell Duty for posting it to FB):
POTD: The Original Remington 51
Below are some photos of my personal Remington 51, made between 1921 and 1923. It’s in remarkably good shape for a gun that’s over 90 years old, and is definitely the best condition Model 51 I’ve ever seen in person or in photographs (so, naturally, I had to buy it).
Cerberus Allows Cash-Out Of Remington
Cerberus, the financial group that owns Remington and the other members of the former Freedom Group, have met with no success in selling the company, an effort that began due to political pressures from its investors. The Wall Street Journal reports:
The Guns Of John Pedersen At RIA
My favorite firearms designer of all time is James Paris Lee, because of his sheer inventiveness and forward-thinking edge that was still grounded in what was practical at the time. My second-favorite firearms designer is David Marshall Williams, because he was totally mad, with a bio that reads like it was ripped straight from a film script (this isn’t hyperbole – Hollywood thought so, too).
