.224 VALKYRIE Barrels Released by JP Enterprises
Those eagerly awaiting the market for the new .224 Valkyrie round have something to celebrate. Gunmaker JP Enterprises recently announced that they are now offering three different barrels for the new cartridge, in 20″ light, 20″ medium, and 22″ medium contours. All three barrels use the somewhat unusual “extra long” gas system, which is two inches longer than the standard “rifle length” gas system normally used with 20″ barrels. The longer gas system coupled with large diameter port settings reportedly increase dwell time while reducing the port pressure. More details on the barrels are available via a review from Recoil.
REV Arms Looks to be No More – No Impact, No Idea
REV Arms, also called Revolution Arms, noted for “selling” (more on the quotes in a second…) sub-MOA guarantee AR-15s is highly likely to be no more. While formal bankruptcy papers have not been filed, the company has gone eerily silent. Numerous customers are reporting lack of delivery of product to the local BBB.
Shotgun Match Saver Shell Holder
Not everyone is into 3Gun competition Those of you who are not in the know may not have seen or heard of the match saver. It is a small piece of plastic that is adhered to the side of a shotgun just forward of the chamber/ejection port. It is used to literally save the match or stage. Sometimes in competition a shooter may be over zealous in burning down some steel targets and miss some. They use up more ammo to knock them down and often may find themselves left with a solitary steel target. At this point they have run their shotgun empty and the bolt is locked back. Well rather than reaching down to your belt for a shell, the shooter just reaches back a bit with their support hand. With a smooth sweeping motion they slide the shell back out of the match saver and into the ejection port. At this time they hit the bolt release while moving their hand back forward. Now the shotgun is loaded and ready to be fired. With practice this can be done very quickly.

[SHOT 2016] Black Dawn's Lightweight 3 Gun Rifle BDR-556-3GLW
Black Dawn has come up with a light weight entry level 3 gun that won’t break the bank. When the rep Tim was walking me through the rifle’s features I was thinking to myself that this thing is going to cost a fortune. When I asked the MSRP he replied with $1499 for the black anodized rifle and $1675 for the Blackwater alumni version I was floored. I was expecting the price on the basic black rifle to start with a two for sure!
Magnetic Shotshell holder from TACCOM
TACCOM is in the works to produce a magnetic shotshell carrier for 3 gunners and shotgun competitors. They only have a prototype so far and are accepting preorders to the tune of $54. Although for a product to be released for shipping on the 19th, I’d expect at least a few pictures instead of an animation. It says it can hold either 8 or 12 shells, but I can’t tell if that means a different carrier for 12 because the one they have pictured only holds 8. In addition I can’t tell if by taking one shell out, it allows the bottom shell to stay attached or if it falls out.

Chris was on season 4 of Top Shot and also made a special appearance on the first and final episodes of the show’s fifth season, which was subtitled “All Stars”. 3 Gun Competition stage slide
A semi pro competitor by name of Rick Birdsall recently shot this 3 Gun stage where he slid underneath the stage wall and completed the course of fire. Pretty neat and a great use of time. Before people start ringing bells about safety, he cleared his actions with the RO before the match and if you look carefully, he completes his action with a magazine inserted, but no round in the chamber, and loads it on the other side of the wall. There was some criticism voiced on his page but overall it was conducted in a safe manner.
