It’s no secret that the industry is currently facing some harsh times. With ammunition, firearm prices inflated to record highs, firearms enthusiasts of all walks are beginning to feel the stress of the industries growing pains in the midst of uncertainty. Reloaders, a pretty niche subset of firearms enthusiasts, are not exempt from this tumultuous time. If you’ve taken a gander at any sort of reloading components (brass, bullets, powder, and primers) you’d be hard-pressed to find anything in stock at the prices they once were, and even the overpriced stuff seems to be vacant from the shelves no matter what? Primers especially are next to impossible to find aside from opportunistic scalpers who are selling them online for upwards of four times their normal price. So where have all the primers gone?

Beretta has introduced the updated 2020 version of their 687 Silver Pigeon III over & under shotgun. This latest iteration of the Silver Pigeon III has improved over its predecessor thanks to the use of new manufacturing, quality control and laser engraving technologies. By now we’re all painfully aware of it: nearly all makes and models of firearms and ammo are being sold at utterly blistering rates. In-stock inventory has become harder to find than TFB TV’s James Reeves sober at a wedding. Cabot Guns has announced that for 2020 they are launching a special project called Gun of the Month. The idea behind this program is to release a custom 1911 every month of the next year. These will be limited edition guns with only 20 of each month gun to be made. Each of the dozen Gun Of The Month 1911s is different from others in terms of used materials and finishes, sizes and configurations, small design details and calibers. As usual, by the end of the year, Hornady announces the first new products of the next year. And as always there is something new in each of the company’s product categories. For 2020 they have new bullets, ammunition, gun safes, and reloading equipment to offer. Let’s take a brief look at each of the Hornady 2020 new products.

In “A move towards gender balance” the International Olympic Committee has released the full program changes for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. 15 new events are planned including events in swimming, archery, table tennis, triathlon, and more. Specifically, the IOC is looking to get to near 50% male to female athlete ratio.

One of the problems of small arms ammunition is that of swept volume. That is, the most ballistically efficient projectiles are the longest and thinnest ones, which cut through the air more easily than squatter, fatter projectiles. Yet, the best projectiles from a propulsion perspective are the widest ones, as they have the most area at their base for the expanding gases to push on, making them more efficient, especially from shorter barrels.

S&T Motiv, the successor to Korean defense company Daewoo Precision Industries, was showing off a new variant of their K2 rifle that equips the Republic of Korea Armed Forces, alongside the M16A1 which remains in use with second-line units. The new rifle is called the K2C1, and features a new quad accessory rail replacing the previous plastic handguard, full-length 1913 Picatinny optics rail, and AR-15-style six position collapsing butt, which also folds. The new rifle will come in two variants, short and long barreled, with 305mm (12″) and 465mm (18.3″) barrels.

Right out of left field, with no fanfare, no press releases, nothing, Remington has launched a website dedicated to their as yet unannounced Remington 2020 scope that has been developed in collaboration with Tracking Point.
