More Photos of ST Kinetics Concept Rifles

Last week STK unveiled not one but two concept rifles on display at Singapore. The next-gen concept conventional design seems to be inspired by old H&K XM8. They also unveiled a next-gen concept bullpup. It looks a lot more compact than the STK SAR-21.

Beretta ARX-160 .22 Pistol

The pistol-sized rifle craze is hitting Europe. Beretta has revealed that they are developing a .22 LR pistol based on the Beretta ARX-160 rifle. I do not think the receiver or internals will be compatible with the full size 5.56mm ARX-160. A 7.62x39mm lower for the [Read More…]

FNAC (FN Advanced Carbine)

FNH USA’s entry into the Army Individual Carbine competition is the FNAC (Advanced Carbine). The most notable difference between the FN SCAR and the FNAC is that the FNAC has a non-reciprocating charging handle and that the FNAC is 0.3 lbs lighter then a similarly [Read More…]

New Assault Rifle from ST Kinetics

This week ST Kinetics (a subsidiary of ST Engineering), makers of the bullpup SAR-21 rifle, have been displaying a new conventional assault rifle at the Singapore Air Show 2012. The rifles looks a lot like the current generation of FN SCAR / Beretta ARX / Remington ACR [Read More…]

Keep your guns safe, in a safe

An elderly man down the street from me had his firearms stolen a few days ago. He had them in a locked box and hidden away but the thieves knew exactly where to find them, which makes me think it was an inside job (it is a bit awkward to ask someone if they have [Read More…]

Most High Tech Ranges in the USA?

Someone recently asked me which were the most high tech gun ranges in the USA. The range closest to Germany’s Müller Schiess Zentrum Ulm Range (see video below) that I know of would be the new Gander Mountain Academy in Lake Mary, Florida. One of the nicest [Read More…]

Blackwater / Xe now called Academi

I just found out that in December 2011 Xe, the company formally known as Blackwater, was renamed to Academi. WSJ reported … On Monday, Virginia-based Xe plans to unveil a new name—Academi—and new logo. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Ted Wright, [Read More…]

Heizer Defense Double Tap

I handled the Heizer Defense Double Tap on the SHOT Show floor and liked it far more than I thought I would. While I don’t like the two round capacity, the gun just felt so good in my hand that I couldn’t help but like it. It is light, there is a 12 oz. [Read More…]

SIG 556R

I had hoped to fire the SIG 556R at Media Day but the queue to shoot it was too long and after waiting about 15 minutes I left the SIG range. It looks like a fun gun to shoot. SIG will be selling it this year with a camo finish.

AES Weapon Shock Simulator

The AES Weapon Shock Simulator (WSS) is a nifty device that simulates the shock environment created by firing an M4 Carbine. The simulator is designed to test the effect of firing on picatinny mounted accessories such as scopes and lights. The high-speed video below [Read More…]

DPMS .22 Upper

At the Big Bang shoot I shot a suppressed DPMS .22 Upper receiver. It worked well. There is a review of the bull barrel target model at XDTalk Forums.

H&K417 (HK762A1) Impressions

I shot the new consumer 7.62mm HK762A1 (H&K417) for the first time at Media Day. There were so many people queuing to shoot it I only got to shoot about 7 rounds. I fired those 7 rounds off as fast as possible (as I usually do) and it felt good. It is heavy, like [Read More…]
