MidwayUSA Foundation Gives $2.3M For Range Development

The MidwayUSA Foundation continues to pump money back into the shooting world, with the announcement of $2.3 million in grants for range improvement in the U.S.

This is the fourth year in a row that the MidwayUSA Foundation has given out cash grants to help ranges expand and develop youth shooting sports. We’re talking big bucks here; so far, in 2024, the MidwayUSA Foundation has spread that $2.3 million over 99 recipients, which is a big increase in both the number of beneficiaries and the number of recipients since last year. MidwayUSA says this is so that ranges “are able to support our youth with the best shooting experience possible.”

To that end, MidwayUSA is giving out awards so ranges can have bigger and better parking areas so they can host larger events. They’re spending money so athletes and spectators can have better handicap accessibility, and they’re funding sporting clays courses so younger shooters have a new way to compete.

“America’s youth not only need funding to cover their shooting sports expenses, but they need qualified coaches to teach them to shoot safely, and they need a safe place to shoot. MidwayUSA Foundation is proud to offer grant programs to cover all three needs,” says the Foundation’s executive director, G. Scott Reynolds. “Youth shooting sports help build character during our children’s formative years and is key to growing and perpetuating shooting sports, which provides nearly 80% of Pittman Robertson conservation dollars.”

Interested in applying for these grants for your own organization or range? Here’s what the Foundation says:

“Applications for special purpose grants, like Range Development and Coach Training, will be accepted annually and applicants must hold an endowment with MidwayUSA Foundation to apply. Each of these are competitive grant programs. Youth shooting teams and organizations interested in improving their respective range should work closely with that range to complete the grant application.”
