POTD: Green Beret with Machine Gun
There are too many photographs to keep records of, but there can never be too many with a machine gun spitting fire. Here we try to collect and share them in our Photo Of The Day. Today we have Special Forces Training in Germany. There are U.S. soldiers from the 10th Special Forces Group participating in a small unit tactical training exercise which was held in the Boeblingen Local
Training Area located near Panzer Kaserne, Boeblingen, Germany, in 2019.

POTD: U.S. Marine Corps Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course
Photo Of The Day at TFB. Fine-art photography seems far away when you’re deep in the desert. Still the guy behind the camera managed to nail it. Above you see U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Brandon Holliman, a native of Suffolk, Virginia, and a rifleman with 1st Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division (MARDIV) as they fire at an enemy position during a Military Operations on Urbanized Terrain town exercise. This training was part of Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course 2-22 on U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground, Yuma, Arizona in April 2022.
POTD: Green Berets in Republic of Korea
Ever since photography was invented in the early 1800s, it has been a medium of limitless possibilities Today most people have at least a smartphone to capture what’s going on around, and professionals use even more advanced cameras and optics. At TFB we’ve been running our Photo Of The Day for years, where we share the best photos with “firearms” as the lowest common denominator. Today we visit the Rodrigues Live Fire Complex in the Republic of Korea. We see Green Berets with 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) and Tactical Air Control Party specialists from 604th ASOS (Air Support Squadron) train in combat marksmanship and close-quarters battle.

The 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division is deployed in support of the U.S. European Command to assure allies in the region and deter any future aggression.
POTD: Exercise Garnet Rattler
For years we at TFB have been running the Photo Of The Day. It’s not a competition, it’s all about finding and sharing excellent pictures and giving the photographer credit for their work. The photo above is one of the best I’ve seen in a while, from the Exercise Garnet Rattler: Urban Complex Assault via Aerial Insertion.

POTD: Heckler & Koch M110A1 Squad Designated Marksman Rifle
Welcome to the Photo Of The Day, an article series run by The Firearm Blog since 2014. To our knowledge, this is the most well-known place on the Internet for photos of firearms. Here we get to know the M110A1 SDMR (Squad Designated Marksman Rifle) a little better as U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers with the Second Battalion of the 113th Infantry Regiment train in live-fire target practice. Above you can see the soldiers using the secondary iron sights. How often do you use yours and train with them? Or do you prefer a red dot optic as secondary?
POTD: Norwegian FN Minimi in Bamako, Mali
A Norwegian soldier with the FN Minimi in Bamako, Mali. One of the purposes of TFB’s Photo Of The Day is to broaden the audience for the excellent work done by professionals in combat photography. A perfect picture may take everything from a split second to months of planning, and it would be sad to see that kind of work go unnoticed.
POTD: Customized Grand Power Stribog SR9A3 Gen2
Today in Photo Of The Day we have a customized Grand Power Stribog SR9A3 Gen2 with a strange coat of paint from Stjernelund Custom Rifles. The sight is a Holosun HS507C-X2. Today we have some cracking pictures from the Royal Marines (United Kingdom) during an exercise in Lithuania in 2021.
POTD: Royal Norwegian Air Force 339 Squadron
Some use reindeer and some use K9 Belgian Malinois to travel in the snow. In our Photo Of The Day, we have Norwegian Coastal Rangers conducting an air mobile operation together with the Royal Norwegian Air Force 339 Squadron. This happened during exercise Arctic Hawk in Northern Norway. Apart from the dog, you can see weapons like the Heckler & Koch HK416N and the FN Minimi.

POTD: The LMT MARS-L in New Zealand
Photo Of The Day and it’s time for a visit to New Zealand. Apart from the soldiers, the “star” here is the LMT MARS-L produced by Lewis Machine & Tool Company. Note the Monolithic Rail Platform. The rifle now serves as the standard service rifle of the New Zealand Army. It’s available in two different barrel lengths, but in 5.56mm only. MARS-L is an abbreviation for Modular Ambidextrous Rifle System – Light. Most have the Trijicon ACOG optic with an RMR red dot on top.

POTD: Marine Corps Marksmanship Championship
Photo Of The Day – established in 2014, this is TFB’s way to show carefully selected photographs on a daily basis. As a bonus, you get a short story and hopefully, you’ll learn something new. Today we have some “running and gunning” with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Marine Corps Marksmanship Championship. Personally, I find shooting on the move with a handgun one of the most fun things you can do. With a rifle, it’s so much more difficult, as your shoulder moves.
POTD: Heckler & Koch 40mm Grenade Machine Gun in Poland
Welcome to TFB’s own Photo Of The Day. As the name implies, this page is dedicated to rare and unique pics which are updated daily. Behind the Heckler & Koch 40mm Grenade Machine Gun (GMG) we have British Army Pte. Warren from Poacher Troop waiting for a firing order. With a weight of almost 30 kilograms, the GMGs are usually mounted to a vehicle.
POTD: Heckler & Koch UMP 9mm FX
We have been publishing the Photo Of The Day articles for years. Our focus is on firearms, sometimes a new product, a classic or one in the hands of soldiers or sports shooters. Sometimes the pictures work just like pieces of art, and today is close and far away from another “black gun”. We have the Heckler & Koch UMP 9mm FX in training color. It’s the perfect gun for any Smurf, or if you happen to be deployed with a UMP and want to train as you fight.
POTD: 105mm – M1 Abrams in Europe
The first online photograph is said to have been published by Tim Berners-Lee in 1992. It’s uncertain how many were actually able to see the image at that time, probably not that many. TFB’s Photo Of The Day is a lot more popular for sure. Here we do our best to focus on interesting high-quality images, like the “frozen” 105mm round above.
POTD: Swedish Platoon 1990
In our Photo Of The Day, we go back in time. This photo was taken on October 13, 1990, some 32 years ago. We have a collection of firearms used by the Swedish Army at the time – some are still going strong – like the Ak4 (H&K G3), Grg m/48 (Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle 84 mm), Ksp m/58 (FN MAG) all gathered around an off-road vehicle Tgb 20. The Swedish platoon soldiers in the picture all have the green Uniform m/59. Note that most of the Ak4s have bayonets mounted and that one has a riflescope (made by Hensoldt possibly, to make an Ak4 DMR version). It was around this time the new Ak5 (FN FNC) was introduced to units.
POTD: French Marine Commando Snipers with Accuracy International
Each day a different image from the world of firearms. We call this POTD, short for Photo Of The Day, and it is our daily article series where we go to great lengths trying to find the most interesting pictures for you out there. Today we have a French Marine Commando sniper supporting Operation Barkhane in West Africa as part of the European Task Force Takuba. This multinational effort aids local forces of Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Chad in combating terrorist threats in the region.
