The Paul Hamilton is part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group, in the U.S. 7th Fleet conducting routine operations. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with Allies and partners. The ship is named after Paul Hamilton, who was the third Secretary of the Navy and served in that role from 1809 to 1813.

Our daily article series called Photo Of The Day will take you to some very exciting and unusual places sometimes. In this case, the caliber is more of a curiosity than the rifle itself, as we have a Chinese NDM-86 SVD clone chambered in 7.62 NATO. It comes from the collection of Dominion Defense LLC.

The engravings and inlaid elements of the SO Sparviere Rocky shotgun are dedicated to Rocky Balboa, Stallone’s character in the famous movie franchise.

TFB’s Photo Of The Day tries to push the excellent work done by so many photographers around the world and in the firearms industry. Cinematic Arms caught the moment with this AR-180. The Armalite Costa Mesa AR-180 is a semi-automatic rifle that was produced by the Armalite company. It was introduced in the late 1960s as a civilian version of the AR-18, a rifle that was designed for military use. The AR-180 has a distinctive look with its curved stock and pistol grip. The AR-180 uses a short-stroke gas piston system.

These are from the U.S. Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, which is a combat system developed to combine various martial arts, tactics, and techniques into one comprehensive fighting system. The program was created to provide Marines with the skills necessary to survive in close-quarters combat and other dangerous situations.

What a fantastic time to be alive! Here we are again with our Photo Of The Day, which seems to be from the future, but from a future that exists already today. Above we have a rare sight. We see a soldier firing an unsuppressed XM-7 Rifle with the XM-157 Fire Control. The fact that the rifle does not have a suppressor is unusual. The photo is from a controllability trial of the Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW), and the soldier is shooting from the standing unsupported firing position. The location is the Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD in November 2022.

It’s Photo Of The Day o’clock and we are looking straight into the barrel of a Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) gunner assigned to 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, as he pulls security. The vehicle behind is the M1126 Stryker Combat Vehicle. The image is from January 13, 2023, at the Twin Bridges Training Area in South Korea during Korea Rotational Force 12.

The goal with TFB’s Photo Of The Day is to give your eyes something worth watching every day. Over the years, we have shown firearms and soldiers from North to South, East to West in almost any imaginable situation and climate. For those living in Europe, the almost complete lack of availability of civilian semi-automatic rifles from Heckler & Koch on the market has been evident. After a long wait, there are now a limited number of such rifles available. These pictures come from Austria Arms – Ing. Fritsch Trade GmbH gives you an idea about the inventory.

Photo Of The Day: Photojournalism is the process of telling a story using photos as the main way to tell the story. A journalist uses a pen and paper to write stories, but a photojournalist uses a camera to take pictures that show what a story is about. Above you see senior Airman Brandon Heyman, a security forces specialist assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, as he maintains a defensive perimeter around an F-15E Strike Eagle at an undisclosed location within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

Arlington is underway conducting a READ-2 inspection in preparation for Inspection and Survey (INSURV), a measure used to check the material readiness of ships.

One of the purposes of TFB’s Photo Of The Day is to broaden the audience for the excellent work done by combat photographers around the world. Today we’re somewhere in the Indian Ocean, where Lance Cpl. Sergio Escalante, rifleman, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), stands an armed watch during a straits transit. He’s working aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). The USS Makin Island is a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship. Its main task is to embark, deploy, and land elements of a Marine Corps landing force in case of an amphibious assault by helicopters, landing craft, and amphibious vehicles.

Two thousand twenty-three is here with a bang, and we’re right into the action with the Royal Saudi Special Security Forces and Green Berets from the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Here they perform a daylight exercise alongside 19 Royal Saudi Special Security Forces (SSF/SOF 6), during counter-terrorism training at Fort Campbell, in Kentucky. This happened in December last year.

TFB reader Stephan reached out to me recently about the best way to set up his new Beretta M9A4 RDO (Red Dot Optic-Ready) with a red dot. People’s first foray into the red dot optic market can be a daunting thing between deciding which red dot to go with, which footprint said red dot has, and obtaining the right plate if none is supplied with the pistol. In Stephan’s case of the Beretta RDO series, Beretta’s fine print stated that upon registering a new purchase with the company, they will send the owner one free optics mounting plate, while any additionally desired plates cost $29.

It’s not every day you see a Benelli M4 shotgun, especially one with wood furniture and a shortened barrel (SBS).
