SILENCER SATURDAY #312: Let's Go to the Gun Shop – Buying Suppressors Retail
Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new YHM R45 Multi-Host Suppressor. Last weekend we flipped through the paper to bring you another edition of Suppressors Ripped From the Headlines. The weather continues to be non-compliant with range activities, so live fire remains on pause. Instead, I hopped in the car and drove to a large firearms and outdoors store to have the experience of buying suppressors retail. What did I learn? Let’s find out.

Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to TFB’s Silencer Saturday brought to you by Yankee Hill Machine, manufacturers of the new YHM R45 Multi-Host Suppressor. Surviving An RPG Explosion, Ballistic Highspeed Accident
Three weeks ago, Ballistic Highspeed posted a video about their documentation of rocket launchers. Specifically, a Carl Gustaf and RPG-7. During filming there was a catastrophic accident with an RPG-7 resulting in an RPG explosion right next to the shooter’s head. They have come out with a video explaining, to the best of their ability, what they think happened that caused this catastrophic accident to happen.
Wheelgun Wednesday: Penn Arms GL65-40 Launcher
Welcome back to Wheelgun Wednesday, where we talk about wheel guns . . . on Wednesday. Last week Hrachya showed us some bizarre double-headed revolver. Well, today we take a look at a revolver, technically. Yes, it is not a handgun but a destructive device as deemed by the ATF. It is a Penn Arms GL65-40. I got a chance to check one out recently.

Is SureFire’s next generation suppressor quieter than the RC2? Does barrel length matter? I think we all know the answer to that… but let’s dig in anyway.
The Rimfire Report: The Eternal Debate – SBR or Takedown 22LR Rifle?
Hello and welcome back to another edition of The Rimfire Report! This ongoing series is all about the rimfire firearm world and its rich history, the extensive array of unique firearms, as well as its fun and enjoyable shooting sports that are accessible to virtually everyone on the globe. Last week we talked about the extremely obscure, rare, and quite honestly pretty cool M6 Scout Rifle. This takedown, folding combination gun is one that many of us seem to have a massive affinity for, even if the concept itself isn’t all that great on paper. I think most of us might rather have a dedicated semi-auto, bolt-action takedown, or SBR 22LR rifle than an M6 as a general-purpose 22LR rifle. So today we’ll be going over the advantages and disadvantages of both, to see what the general consensus is among you, readers, as well as a few of the TFB staff that I’ve asked about the concept.

Can the RC3 live up to the standards of its RC2 predecessor? We’ll find out in this multi-part series dedicated to the latest SureFire release.
Silencer Central Tour 2023 – Where All The Quiet Magic Happens
At the very end of August, I had the extreme pleasure of going on a tour at the Silencer Cental headquarters where all of the quiet magic happens. Silencer Central formerly Dakota Silencers has been delivering silence for over 15 years (closing in on 20!). They are arguably the largest silencer company out there and have some of the most thoughtful customer services regarding easy and painless silencer purchases. What I witnessed at their headquarters on my Silencer Central tour reflected that and more. Let’s dive right in!
Savage Arms AccuCan Suppressor Line
Savage Arms have introduced another Accu product line – a new suppressor series called AccuCan. The AccuCan family of suppressors currently has three members – AC338, AC30 and AC22. The numbers in the model names indicate the calibers each of these suppressors is designed for. All three Savage cans are serviceable direct thread suppressors with monocore baffle design and titanium/aluminum construction. Let’s take a quick look at the specs of the new Savage AccuCan suppressors.
Destructive Testing of a 3D-Printed Nylon Suppressor
Additive Manufacturing, more commonly known as 3D Printing, is becoming increasingly mainstream in the production of firearms components and accessories. We’ve already seen commercial attempts at manufacturing polymer 3D-printed suppressors and now, thanks to Forerunner 3D Printing, we can see how 3D-printed nylon survives a couple of hundreds of rimfire rounds.

Last week we spent some time shooting the AAC Element 3 rimfire suppressor. This week we take a pause to kickoff the holiday season – and because I have been sick most of the week and couldn’t get out on the range to finish my KAC QDC/MQT-PRT review. So I guess I am thankful for my returning health.
SilencerCo Issues Immediate Suppressor Safety Recall
As sad as it is to hear, sometimes manufacturing defects happen and make their way out the door. Today SilencerCo has announced an immediate safety recall for OMEGA 300, OMEGA 36M, HYBRID 46, HYBRID 46M, and HARVESTER EVO purchased between June 1, 2023, through October 9, 2023, including ones sent to SilencerCo dealers. SilencerCo recently discovered a welding defect on these specific models of suppressors that could pose a threat to the user through catastrophic failure of the suppressor. SilencerCo has recommended that you immediately stop using your suppressor if it is indicated that it falls within the safety recall window, which you can check by entering your serial number on this page. The full text of the recall is below for your convenience.

Can the Element 3 live up to its family name? Let’s take a look.
H.R. 6352: Tax Stamp Revenue Transfer for Wildlife and Recreation Act
Our friends at Silencer Central sent over the details on H.R. 6352, the Tax Stamp Revenue Transfer for Wildlife and Recreation Act. This proposed bill would redirect National Firearms Act (NFA) making and transfer taxes from being deposited into the general treasury fund to wildlife conservation programs and NFA application processing enhancements. As the NFA tax collection stands, proceeds are not used for any specific purpose and are instead deposited into the treasury.
The Mini Scorpion – Volquartsen's New Rimfire Suppressor Host
22LR pistols are probably the best hosts for pistol suppressors. They’re fun, super quiet with subsonic ammunition, and of course, don’t cost a lot to shoot. Volquartsen recognizes this and has just released their new 3″ Mini Scorpion pistol with the specific purpose of making a more suppressor-friendly pistol that’s still accurate, and reliable.
NEW Kel-Tec R50 Defender SBR
Kel-Tec has a new Short-Barreled Rifle called the R50 Defender. It combines the P50 pistol and the R50 Rifle into one product. Kel-Tec calls it a “lightweight, compact and versatile rifle”, chambered in 5.7x28mm with a magazine capacity of 50 rounds.

Heckler & Koch MR223A3C in Flecktarn Nacht – German GunWorks
German GunWorks is at it again! This time the project is a Heckler & Koch MR223A3C in Flecktarn Nacht. As many of you will know, Flecktarn (German pronunciation: [ˈflɛktaʁn]) is the official camouflage pattern of the “Bundeswehr” (German Army). Nacht means night in German, so we’re looking at a sort of MultiCam Black, but in a German interpretation. The MR223 A3C comes with an 11″ barrel length, and has undergone several hours of customization and the replacement parts list is extreme – passing beyond 6,500 €.
SILENCER SATURDAY #302: POI Testing With SIG SLH And SLX Suppressors

A Lightweight Take On A Classic – SilencerCo's New Sparrow-Ti
One of the industry’s favorite 22LR suppressors just got a much-needed update in honor of SilencerCo’s 15-year anniversary. The new Limited Edition 15-year Anniversary SilencerCo Sparrow-Ti is a nearly exact copy of the original, but this time comes in at nearly half the weight with its all-titanium construction. In addition, the new pint-sized suppressor comes in a nifty two-tone Cerkaote finish and also gives customers an opportunity to test out SiCo’s brand new direct purchasing experience with customers being able to purchase SilecnerCo suppressors directly through their website rather than their network of dealers.
