New Knife From SIG Sauer and Hogue
Most of you probably own knives along with your guns, and many most likely own quite an assortment of knives, not just one or two. If you don’t, well, maybe it’s past time you did. Either way, this new knife may interest you. It’s being made by Hogue according to SIG Sauer’s requests, and it’s called the SIG Sauer EX-02.

1980s Gun vs Knife Police Training
Here is an interesting video to help train officers about the dangers of distance and knife attacks. The speed of the first attack is rather impressive. Some of this information seems out of date and of course more training and speed draws can help alleviate some issues. However not many practice drawing quickly out of the holster.
How to throw a tomahawk or knife
Andrew at GY6vids demonstrates how to throw knives and tomahawks just in time for us to head to Wal-Mart, buy an Axe, and spend the 4th of July living out our Mel-Gibson-in-the-Patriot fantasies. He explains the basics clearly and also throws in some extra tips such as how to setup an ideal knife target for training.
KAI USA's Zero Tolerance 0630 and KERSHAW Siege Tomahawk
KAI USA has released some nice products this year and TFB has had a bead on them since the SHOT show. We were able to get a few of their new blades for a closer look. It is clear that KAI and ZT have really tuned into their consumer base. As a gun and knife junkie, I am really pleased with their latest offerings.

Aaron Cowan at Breach-Bang-Clear gives reviewers the low-down on three popular multi-tools for ARs and shooting in general. Up to task was the Leatherman MUT, Gerber Efect, Gerber MP1, and the Multitasker Series 3.He breaks down the tools in light of their shooting focus and in some instances, breaks a few of the tools himself.
Gerber Cohort Knife Recall
Gerber recalls Cohort knives due to laceration hazard. Apparently the blade lock has failed on some of these knives causing injury which in some cases required stitches. This recall actually made the nightly news. This recall is also for those in Canada who have purchased this knife.
How to make a pen-sized airgun
“The pen is mightier than the sword” said every gun (and sword) hating journalist ever. But if you are in need of an ultra concealable weapon to punch holes in tin cans and don’t want to file the paperwork and pay the taxes for .22LR firing pen, you should consider hw97karbine’s very cleverly designed air powered pen gun. He explains how to build the airgun on Instructables, the only catch being that a lathe is required.

New for 2015 is their Shock ‘n’ Awesome Tactical Tomahawk, which is designed both for performance and to up your cool factor. Whether you actually use it to hack apart a fallen tree for firewood or want it as part of your SHTF kit, odds are there’s a place for it in your life. Arsenal .22LR Ballistic Knife Video
Here is a video showing some of the workings of the .22LR revolver knife imported by Arsenal Inc. I could not find this knife on their website so perhaps they are no longer importing them.
Gun vs. Knife – Two Professionals Break it Down
I am very much a fan of Instructor Zero (of Funker Tactical Fame) and Doug Marcaid a (also of Funker Tactical Fame). In their first meeting, Doug puts the “21-foot rule” to shame, taking the best of Zero (especially considering drawing from concealment.)
SOG's Newest Knives and Flashlights
SOG had their newest knives and flashlights at Industry Day at the Range as well as a few of their popular staples such as their throwing knives, Fling, and their Tactical Tomahawk. Among those available to look at were the Zoom series compact folding knives and the Instinct series wearable fixed blade knives. SOG has a well-deserved reputation for quality, and it’s evident in each of their knives, both those new for 2015 and those that have been around for some time. Their throwing knives are nicely balanced and perfect for improving your knife throwing skills while their wearable and folding knives have a wide variety of uses, and you can be sure they’ll not only get the job done but last for a very long time.
Pistol & Blade quick draw
Anton Beukes posted a video showing his CCW gun and knife draw. It is very clean and very impressive manipulation. Not sure why you would need a knife when you have a working gun, but you cannot argue against the execution of the drill.
Everyday Carry Knives: $100 and Under
Our sister blog AllOutdoor has published an excellent round up of the best EDC (Everyday Carry) knives for under $100. Knives, like guns, have no limit on how much they can cost (and how much enthusiasts will pay for them) but not everyone cares enough about their knife to spends hundreds of dollars. For many folks as long as it opens their Amazon packages they are happy. Then there are other folk who do value premium-quality knifes cannot afford to dump a substantial part of their paycheck on a knife that is only 10% better than one costing half as much.
Raven Concealment Moduloader Pocket Shield
Simple ideas have a tendency to “just work”. In this case the simple idea is the Raven Concealment “ModuLoader” Pocket Shield. Basically just an injection-molded polymer frame, the ModuLoader is designed to simultaneously mounts & organizes EDC items and smooths out the pocket to avoid detection.
Grayman Satu Stonewashed Finish
The Grayman Satu is a TFB writer favorite. Phil, Mike and I all own one. Grayman have changed the Ti-Ti (all titanium) model’s finish from a matte grey DCL (Diamond Like Carbon) finish to a ‘Stonewashed’ finish. The stonewash finish is apparently better at resisting rush and scratches are not noticeable.
KnifeRights.org Launches Legal Blade App – Mini Review Included
KnifeRight.org has released a new app designed to help those with knives to navigate the legal quagmire of knife laws that are out there. But there are two problems that I have with the app. First and foremost, its a $1.99 app in the Google Play store. Not all that much in terms of what apps can cost, but definitely something that will keep some people for buying the app. While I understand that it costs money to maintain a database and build an app, there are those out there that refuse to pay anything for apps.

Tactical Watchmaker Minuteman have collaborated with ZeroTolerance to produce the MM01K Minuteman knife. It has a distinct blackwash jeans-style finish made by coating the components with Tungsten DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) and then tumbling them. I really like this look, but I am sure its not for everyone.
NRA 2014 Day 2: DSA has an Interesting Survival Axe
Right at the end of the day, I made it over to DS Arms, makers of excellent FAL and RPD firearms. (Alex C. will have an upcoming factory tour and review soon!). Their sales rep, Mike, kept directing my attention to his axe. Thinking it was just one of the numerous “cheap” bladed weapons hocked at the show, I dismissed it.
