Dark Mountain Arms is a new firearms manufacturing company (founded in 2023) located in Asheville, North Carolina. The company’s first products are a takedown rifle and pistol called STOWAWAY that have a rather unusual action and chambering combination – these are single-shot bolt action firearms chambered in 5.7×28. A stow a way sounds like a survival gun for emergency use? What emergency? Small animals like rabbit and squirrels for food? Why not 22 or 22 mag. Hoping for something larger like a deer? Why not a single shot 357 or even 9mm for head shots? For defense? Not really, it is a single shot. Maybe a single shot 410, one of those that also shoots 45 Colt and 2.5 and 3 inch 410 shells, far more versatile.

As a cool range toy? Sure, but why not make it with removable and user changeable barrels?

By one of those 30 round Smith and Wesson or 30 round KelTec 22 mag pistols and forget about it, this one is beyond boring. But if they must make it, get real, make it in 223.
