Photo Of The Day – To the horizon and beyond. Just the other day, I had the pleasure of unboxing a new rifle. The wait has been a long one, and the journey to pick it up as well, and my excitement was hard to hide. However, it must be close to nothing compared to what these soldiers are experiencing as they’re unpacking the Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) system, in all its glory including optics and suppressors.

Last week, Soldiers assigned to the @101stAASLTDIV received and unboxed the Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) system, which is the most lethal small arms weapon system in the world.
Now awaits the pleasure of zeroing these beasts, and starting to work with them. Just getting used to the new ammunition and Vortex Optics’ XM157 fire-control system must be a huge change.

Wonder if they fixed the issues SOCOM had with them.

All of these resources are being dedicated to a system that will be obsolete by the time it is ever fielded against the actual adversaries it was designed to defeat the armor of. Russia or China will just come up with some roughshod counter to this, just as Russia has been doing in Ukraine, and we will be left with a rifle that is heavier and has a lower capacity.
Drones are the future of warfare. Small arms like this will provide next to nothing in real-world advantages. We will be sending men in with $100k in equipment, just to be taken out by some Cold War-era hand grenade dropped from a $100 Alibaba special drone.
The fact of the matter is, our military, from the infantryman to the highest-ranking officer, has absolutely no experience in contemporary warfare, and their decisions are showing that. They are spending exorbitant amounts of money on these "game-changer" technologies while our adversaries are gaining real-world experience fighting contemporary wars. We are following right down the path of the Germans in WWII, who leaned heavily on technological advantages, so much so that it created a logistical nightmare.
