POTD: Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) – New Equipment Training Event
You’re watching and reading TFB’s Photo Of The Day, where more and more images of the Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) are starting to surface. Here we have the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Screaming Eagles, stationed in Fort Campbell training on the system.
The images are from PEO Soldier (The Army acquisition agency responsible for everything a Soldier wears or carries).

While seeing the soldier use the suppressor as a rest is cringeworthy it did give me an idea.
What if you had a free float barrel in an integral suppressor? That seems like a feasible way one could use their suppressor as a rest, though at the same time you'd still need some sort of heat shield.
Mines, Drones and Artillery are the biggest killers in the battlefield at least that is what Ukraine is showing us but remember that war is almost a stalemate at this point as neither side can blitzkrieg each other. The USA military is another beast though since we are able to do combined arms warfare. Also, wasn't the major push to get the 6.8x51 ammo in was because in Afghanistan the Taliban was using PKMs and shooting from higher altitudes down to NATO troops and the USA troops were outgunned wit the 7.62 nato round. I remember reading that but guess what, Afghanistan is done and it looks like occupation and patrol warfare is done and everything is moving to actual warfare between nations fielding all types of military equipment instead of fighting insurgents or farmers.
