Concealed Carry Corner: Classy Carry Guns For Christmas
Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we took a look at some great ideas for the person who carries a concealed firearm in your family. If you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to check it out. This week, one of my favorite things about the holidays is getting together with my family and talking about what we decide to carry for family dinners. Call us a little red-neck but it’s always fun to carry a firearm to our Christmas gathering just to see what everyone has. Let’s take a closer look at some classy carry guns for Christmas.
Concealed Carry Corner @ TFB:
Fancy Glocks of the World
In years past, one of the most popular options in our family is the Gucci Glock selection whether that’s a project-built Glock like mine or something done up by companies like Agency Arms. Having a handgun you’ve customized and picked specific parts to give it a truly unique look, there’s something special about making your carry gun an extension of yourself with various parts or color choices. With the wide variety and popularity of Glocks, there are a ton of options when it comes to triggers, barrels, slide cuts, and small parts.
Once everything on the actual gun has been done up, then it’s time for lights and optics which can give you drastically different performance based on what you choose. Often times with higher-end Glocks, they may be the gun that a certain individual carries every day but the part and color choices are what make it interesting at a Christmas get-together. If you’re on the fence about what to bring, a Gucci Glock is never a bad choice to get the conversation going.
SIG P210 Carry
What can I say about the SIG P210 Carry, it’s a prime candidate for this type of event. The SIG P210 Carry is an elegant pistol that has some really interesting sweeping lines giving it a classic minimalist look. I actually carried this same pistol back in 2022 for my Christmas gun and it was one of the more unique options at the party. The all-black design gives it a clean simple look and lets the curved lines really make it stand out as something special.
With the metal construction and single action-only trigger, the P210 Carry is extremely comfortable to shoot and with its thin profile, it’s easy to carry as well. The biggest downside to this gun is the overall capacity of just 9 rounds. It’s certainly enough for the vast majority of situations and for a Texas BBQ-style event it will be just fine but for everyday carry, I’d rather have a tad more ammo in the magazine. It’s still a fantastic gun and I am certainly happy to own it.
Dan Wesson DWX Compact
Another interesting choice for a Christmas party gun has to be the Dan Wesson DWX Compact. This gun is honestly my choice for this year’s Christmas gun since the capacity, quality, and overall look are perfect for a fun conversation piece. If there was one pistol in 2023 that surprised me the most it was the Dan Wesson DWX Compact. Using the CZ P01 magazines, the DWX Compact has a capacity of 15+1 with rounded-off edges to keep the pistol snag-free.
It is very familiar if you shoot 1911s with the slide release, safety, and trigger all being the same with a double stack magazine. The red trigger also gives Christmas cheer. The DWX Compact is proven to be a very reliable handgun along with being an aesthetically great-looking pistol. For an all-metal construction, the weight is manageable and it has truly become one of my favorite fancy carry guns.
Double Stack 1911/2011
I don’t think this list would be complete without the 2011 or 1911 double-stack style of handguns. These types of handguns are the easy choice for a BBQ gun event where everyone will be carrying. The new 2011-style pistols are really where form and function meet. They are capable at the range while really being some of the most beautiful guns out there in my opinion. Companies like Nighthawk, Cabot, Infinity, and others do a really nice job blending form and function together to make high-quality pistols.
If you’re unsure of what to carry and have one, this is a really simple choice based on the rarity along with the reputation in the market as being a great option. There are some really unique and cool options for holsters as well from classic holsters to exotic ones. Personally, I don’t usually choose my 2011-style pistols because those are the guns I train with at the range the most. Out of everything in my collection, they are the most beaten up and usually look the worst but it just goes to show how good pistols can be if you can shoot high volumes through them.
Overall Thoughts
It’s not mandatory to have something expensive or exotic to carry at a backyard BBQ event but rather it’s about the experience of carrying something and sharing experiences with the people you are close with. If you have a group of friends or family, I highly suggest getting together and just enjoying the community you have with shooting friends during the holiday season.
