HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Ultimate AR-10 or Here We Go Again?
Welcome everyone to the 197th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the custom Glock 23 was fudd crap.
At this time the original auction is still up with the gold-plated and hundred-dollar bill-dipped Glock still up for grabs. We can only hope this very flashy gat will find its way to a new home in the near future.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a custom TMC Guardian AR-10 pattern rifle chambered in 308 Win. As is tradition, this camo-clad gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker with a $3,000 Starting Bid or $4,995 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Ultimate AR-10 or Here We Go Again?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“It was always a bit ironic when I had to wear a hi-viz PT belt over my camouflage uniform in the Army. This has that same dumb vibe. ‘Do you want to be seen or hidden? Uhhh, yes.’” – Will P.
Selling this custom camo-clad gat is GunBroker seller tgunshop, located in Mercersburg PA. Let’s see what they had to say about this one-of-a-kind AR-10.

Everyone knows that the first rule of firearms is looking cool, and the second rule is having fun. For those that don’t understand humor, that was a joke. I’ll link an article on firearms safety here just in case. In all honestly I really want guns like this to be as good as they claim to be. The AR-10 platform was never standardized like the AR-15, so different patterns are plentiful on the market and I’ve had mixed results over the years. Things are getting better, but you still have to understand the DPMS vs Armalite pattern if you want to dive into the world of building or upgrading an AR-10.
This is a gun that’s just a little too much in a few areas. I honestly hope that shooters find a platform that they truly love and chase perfection in that platform. However, you need to understand that at a certain point that gun is truly yours, and it’s going to be a tough sell should you decide to ever sell it. Even with all the features, this gun is a little over the top, even if it does shoot as well as advertised.
What do you think? Is a rifle like this worth $3k+ with all the upgrades? Or would you rather start with something a little more barebones and customize it from there? As always I leave it up to you, the readers, to decide.
What do you think? Is this Camo AR-10 a Hot Gat or overdone Fudd Crap? Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this TMC Guardian 10 308 is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:

You know it’s bullshit when they claim it was made for homeland security and then claim it was a select fire.
So my eyes glazed over until I saw the barrel is from Craddock Precision. Other than the stock, cerakote job, and irrelevant muzzle device, this has the foundations to be a very very accurate rifle. A lot of that depends on how the barrel was bedded in the upper and if the receiver was trued, but I would believe the half moa guarantee on that barrel. Craddock Bartlein barrels are the best precision barrels you can buy for AR platform rifles. Bar none.
Hot gat.
