A new dawn, new possibilities and another Photo Of The Day. Above you see Segundo-tenente fuzileiro naval (Brazilian Marine Corps 2nd Lieutenant) Baluino with 1st Batalhão de Infantaria, Pelotão de Reconhecimento e Vigilância (1st Infantry Battalion, Recon Platoon) as he fires his weapon during a course of fire at the Base de Fuzileiros Navais da Ilha do Governador, Brazil, (Brazilian Marine Corps Base on the Ilha do Governador) during a scout sniper assessment on June 22, 2023.

Marines with Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South, traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to increase readiness and interoperability between marine corps. Gilber is a native of Rio de Janeiro.

Below: Maj. Felipe Bayona, U.S. Marine on the personal exchange program to Brazil, goes through a course of fire. This is one of many events in the U.S. Southern Command that provide training and travel opportunities for Marines in the reserve components.

Below: Cabo fuzileiro naval (Brazilian corporal) Vinicius da Silva with 1st Batalhão de Infateria, Pelotão de Reconhecimento e Vigilância (1st Infantry Battalion, Recon Platoon) reloads his rifle during a course of fire.

No doubt someone will complain about how they don't have ten pounds of crap clipped, pinned, and strapped onto their guns. "Whut the heck? They ain't got no LAM, GPS, or BFG on their kit! They ain't warriors! They'd get totally wiped out in a real fight with a real opponent! Like me!"

@FireMike And yet it hasn't made a difference once.

Germany had it in during the later stages of WW2 - they still lost.

The US had it ever since Vietnam... lost, lost, lost, won one, lost, lost, lost again...

Fighting at night is not all it's cracked up to be.

Were those pistols and rifles made by the Taurus?

@predrag djuric The pistols are PT-92s IIRC, but the rifles are US made M16A2 Colt Commandos.
