Welcome to TFB’s Photo Of The Day! Today’s selection shows Ukrainian soldiers on the shooting range, with instructors from the Norwegian Home Guard. They are shooting the Norwegian version of the Heckler & Koch HK416 (HK416N). Communication mainly takes place via an interpreter.

The Norwegian Home Guard, known as Heimevernet (HV) in Norwegian, is a military organization responsible for territorial defense and crisis management within Norway. It is a part-time force composed of civilian volunteers and personnel on other-term contracts.

Below: Working the barricade. Word of caution, do not use the barrel as any type of support when you are shooting, as it will have a huge impact on your hits.

The Home Guard’s primary purpose is to safeguard national security and protect Norwegian territory. It serves as a rapid response force during times of crisis, including armed aggression, natural disasters, and other emergencies.

While the Norwegian Home Guard utilizes a wide range of equipment, including small arms, vehicles, and communication systems, its capabilities are generally more focused on territorial defense and crisis response rather than offensive operations. Or as here, helping with knowledge exchange with other military forces.
