New Rifle Dynamics MARK II Line of Rifles

Rifle Dynamics have announced a new series of AK rifles called Mark II which is based on their earlier released Quickhatch AK pistols. The main difference from their older rifle models is that instead of using standard AK lower handguards with UltiMAK railed gas tubes, the new Rifle Dynamics Mark II rifles are built with M-LOK aluminum handguards designed in collaboration with Occam Defense Solutions.

    Rifle Dynamics @ TFB:

Currently, there are six rifles in the Rifle Dynamics Mark II line – three 500-series rifles chambered in 5.45×39 and three 700-series rifles chambered in 7.62×39. The 600-series Mark II rifles chambered in 5.56×45 are in the works and will be released soon. The difference between the models within the caliber groups is in the stock attachment solution – the 502/702 rifles feature AR-15 buffer tube adapters, the 503/703 have fixed polymer AK stocks, and the 506/706 guns come with Picatinny rail rear trunnions.

All RD Mark II rifles feature 14.5″ barrels made of 4150 CrMoV steel that have 1/2×28 muzzle threads and come with pinned and welded muzzle devices to make the overall legal barrel length over 16″. The new handguard is made of 6061 aluminum, is free-floated, has a top Picatinny rail that extends back over the receiver, six M-LOK slots along the sides and bottom, and single M-LOK slots at the very front, at 1 and 11 o’clock positions. The overall weight of the new handguard with its mount, gas tube and heat shield is 1 lb 4 oz, however, the Mark II rifles are only one ounce heavier than the comparable previous generation guns, because the new handguard not only replaces the railed gas tube and the standard AK lower handguard but its installation also requires removal of the rear sight block and handguard retainer assemblies. Also, the RD tunable gas block doesn’t have an integral front sight and fits inside the rail.

The basic configurations of Rifle Dynamics Mark II rifles feature an RD flash hider, tuned LBE Unlimited G3 AK trigger, Tango Down BGAK pistol grip, come with one 30-round magazine and an RD soft case. The prices for standard configuration Rifle Dynamics Mark II rifles vary from $2,900 to $3,425 depending on the model. The company also offers a wide selection of optional accessories (most for an additional cost) including muzzle devices, safety selectors, triggers, pistol grips, cases, stocks, and multiple colors of the rifle and handguard. The new RD Mark II handguard is also available separately for $330.
