POTD: Pilsen Liberation Festival – U.S. GI Reenactors

Pilsen Liberation Festival - U.S. GI Reenactors

For today’s Photo Of The Day, we have these cool images from the Pilsen Liberation Festival (May 6, 2023). U.S. GI Reenactors recreate iconic scenes from the liberation of Pilsen. The Liberation Festival is an annual event that brings over 50,000 spectators to Pilsen for the Liberation Parade, which consists of U.S. GI reenactors from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, and the United States to commemorate the 16th Armored Division’s liberation of Pilsen on May 5th, 1945, three days before VE-Day.

U.S. Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman (SEAC) Ramon “CZ” Colon-Lopez, and Czech Republic SEAC Peter Smik, visit the Pilsen Liberation Festival.

U.S. Soldiers assigned to Bull Troop, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, pose on an M8 Greyhound during the Pilsen Liberation Festival, May 6, 2023.

    Note the M3 submachine gun.
