Antimatter Industries’ Sliding Scopeswitch

    Antimatter Industries' Sliding Scopeswitch

The guys at FLUX Defense have started a new company called Antimatter Industries and they have come out with something rather interesting, the Scopeswitch. It is a rail-mounted slider and optic mount that rotates your scope’s magnification ring for you. This way you do not have to take your support hand off the handguard and maintain positive control.

LPVOs and traditional variable magnified optics have a ring to adjust magnification. In order to change magnification, you need to take one of your hands off the gun, see the image below.

At first glance, I too dismissed the Scopeswitch, without looking closely I thought it was just another scope lever to change the magnification. That is not the case. The Scopeswitch is an optic mount and rail-mounted slider that uses 4140 stainless steel cables. At the rear of the Scopeswitch mount look at the base. It has pulleys that redirect the cable direction and a clamping mechanism is installed on your scope power ring.

One concern I had was durability and would dirt, moisture and other issues cause the Scopeswitch to not work?  They torture tested it.

The Scopeswitch mount only weighs 6.3 ounces while the rest of the slider and its mount add only another 4 ounces. The optic mount and slider mount are made of 7075 aluminum and I mentioned earlier they use 4140 stainless steel for the lugs and cabling.

The Scopeswitch is fully ambidextrous. The optic height is 1.93″ and they came out with a 30mm and soon 34mm optic mount. For those who were curious, like me, you can reverse the travel of the slider. In the video, they set it up so that when you pull your thumb back, it zooms the optic in. This is great for better stability in the prone, kneeling positions and using a barricade. But I you prefer the opposite, where you push forward to zoom in and pull back for wider FOV you can set up the Scopeswitch to do that.

The Scopeswitch is compatible with any modern rifle with at least 11.5″ of continuous picatinny rail. Antimatter Industries has compiled a list of scopes that it is compatible with but of course they cant test them all. Click here to see the google doc spreadsheet.  Something to think about is the amount of force needed to rotate your scope’s magnification ring. If it is easy, then the Scopeswitch will be easier to manipulate. If it takes more effort then the Scopeswitch will be harder to move.

The Scopeswitch starts at $599.99 for the 30mm version and in black. Anodized is coming soon and costs an additional $20. The 34mm version starts at $625 but no mention of color. I assume the same applies as the 30mm.

Antimatter Industries is already planning on a motorized version, that way you can still utilize night vision clip-ons. However, using a night vision clip-on is not really needed in a dynamic fast-paced environment. For that kind of shooting, you just use helmet-mounted night vision and a red dot.
