MDT Releases 10-round Magazine For Howa Mini Action

@Mystick That where I landed. When I'd heard about the project awhile back, I was very interested. I am not $120 interested. The Howa mini mags have some issues on a lot of the rifles. One of my 6.5 grendel mags sometimes won't feed up the 2nd to last round. The other two seem to work fine. My .223 howa mini mags all work fine. I'd honestly rather someone make a flush mag, even at reduced capacity.

The factory mags are on the same body sized for 10 rounds of .223. The 7.62x39 and 6.5 grendel mags, and 5 round .223 mags, have some plastic ribs also molded inside of them that take up some space. Rather than actually being shorter magazines. I have not yet done it, but I've read guys mill out the ribs and the 6.5 grendel and 7.62x39 mags will take 7 (8?) rounds then and pretty reliably. Alternately, you can cut the body shorter, the plate will still fit on. For .223 it'll run to 5 rounds then. 6.5 grendel and 7.62x39 will fit 4. It does technically stick out a little, but the magazine base pad is all that is sticking out of the bottom. much smoother and easier to carry. I've got 3x6.5G and 3x.223 mags. I plan to cut one of each flush and I'll probably modify one 6.5G mag to 7 rounds and if it runs fine for awhile, modify the other one to 7. Moar is bed-da. But realistically the most rounds down range I have ever in my life put deer hunting is two. So 4 rounds in the mag is twice as many shots as I have ever taken. If I really want, I can load it 4+1, so I still have 5 (or one less than running 5+1). And it is mag fed, so maybe 5 seconds to load in a 7 round magazine if I am facing Bambi's dad and he is PISSED and wearing Lvl IV plate.

Lots of internal magazine 300WM bolt guns are only 4 rounds. And most of the WSM and WSSM's are only 3 rounds internal capacity.

PS if the price ever comes down to a little more earthly $50 range I might pickup an MDT mag. I get the cost, but I can't justify dropping a fifth of the cost of the entire gun, INCLUDING optic. One ran me $550 shipping, transfer, and the Sig Whiskey 3 scope on the 6.5G 1500 mini. My .223 was $525 as a barreled action, shipping, transfer fee, $62 used stock from eBay and Bushnell Engage 4-12x40 scope (no, not the fanciest glass). Even when you add in the cost of two extra mags each, neither tops $600. They shoot sweet and are two of my favorite rifles. but they are no $1000+ rifle.
