TFB’s Photo Of The Day is on a mission to collect high-quality photos from the world of firearms, and what’s better than a few Heckler & Koch HK417 rifles at the sniper range? Above you see a Dutch Marine with Marine Squadron Carib, Netherlands Marine Corps while participating in the Exercise Caribbean Urban Warrior at a sniper range on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, March 2023.

It’s pretty rare to get this kind of close-ups. As you can see, the Dutch Marines use Schmidt & Bender optics with Spuhr mounts.

In the fifth photo down, there's a Knights Armament 7.62 with the bolt open. The top cartridge is slid
forward about 30% where the bullet is probably already in contact with the feed ramp.
Is this an established procedure to ensure the first cartridge in the magazine feeds smoothly?
The KAC doesn't have forward assist, but the rifle in the bottom picture does, and it appears it may have been loaded the same way.

@KsKLR The 417 in the bottom picture is in the middle of cycling. I don't know what's up with the KAC.
