[EnforceTac 2023] Snigel Design of Sweden

TFB is visiting EnforceTac in Nuremberg, Germany, and we stopped by Snigel Design from Sweden for a “live” report. Recently Snigel got an order from the Bundeswehr / German Army to deliver more than 250,000 backpacks of various sizes.

Backpacks and Range Bags @ TFB:

Snigel Design is a Swedish company that specializes in designing and producing ergonomic backpacks and carrying systems for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and skiing. Their products are known for their high quality, functionality, and minimalist design. The company was founded in 1990 by outdoor enthusiasts frustrated with the lack of comfortable backpacks on the market. They started by designing a carrying system that distributed the weight of a backpack evenly across the hips and shoulders, reducing strain on the back and neck.

Today, Snigel Design offers a range of backpacks, plate carriers and carrying systems for different activities and needs, including military and law enforcement use. Their products are designed and made in Sweden and are known for their durability and adaptability to different body types and needs.

Another interesting product series is their Squeeze ballistic protection and equipment carrying system, a plate carrier system that I use in my own Bug Out kit. I also use their carrying belts for long-range / PRS style type of shooting. The parts can be combined in many different ways depending on the threat, the mission and the environment. It works well, both for duty and competition.

    • “The Squeeze comes in one plate carrier style, one vest and one long vest.
    • The plate carrier and the two vests in combination with the side panel pouches (84-00984) will fit 90% of the users.
    • The Squeeze sits very comfortable and tight on your body.
    • It is easy to adjust in height and width, even when worn.
    • The plate carrier is used either with the side panel pouch set or the quick adjust set.
    • Both options are attached with a zipper, Velcro or Buckles in the front/side of the plate carrier to be easy to open or close.
    • Foam ridges on the inside for increased ventilation, comfort and lower trauma. Compartments for ballistic panels and ceramic plates on the front and back.
    • The bottom of the plate carrier is where the ballistic panels and plates are inserted or removed. This is also were you attach the groin protection when needed.MOLLE webbing on the front and back. One attachment point on each shoulder for a repair buckle to attach a backpack. Two attachment points under the MOLLE webbings on the chest for repair buckles to attach the chest panel. An elastic cord is placed around the edge of the front to hold hydration tubes or cables.Removable padded shoulder covers with cable channel and elastic loops for antennas.Your radio ear piece can be placed under a flap in the shoulder cover when not in use.Velcro patches on the front and back for name and unit patches. The Squeeze can be carried in a system with the ballistic yoke, small ballistic sleeve set and ballistic groin protection set to make a really good protective set.”

Here’s the sample from EnforceTac. Note the inflatable lifejacket around the neck. This is a restricted item, but look how well integrated it is (and configurable, as some units don’t want it to automatically go off, and inflate, as they touch the water).

Snigel Design has a pretty cool website. Check it out here: https://www.snigel.se/
