Welcome everyone to the 179th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the Intratec AB-10 was a hot gat.
At this time the original auction remains up with the 80s classic still up for grabs. We can only hope this hot gat finds its way to a new home in the very near future.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a custom AR-10 pattern rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. As is tradition, this extremely colorful gat is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,750 Current Bid or $2,299 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Unisex Fun or Rejects’ Gun?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“I like the build, but the colors gotta go. It was nice of Captain America to let the seller take a photo in his kitchen though.” – Doug E.
“If you’ve based your personality on Princess Poppy from the Trolls movies, boy do we have the gun for you.” – Will P.
“When you let your 5 year old daughter pick the cerakote colors” – Tim C.
“The backwards scope mount is the least embarrassing part of this gun” – Daniel Y.
Selling this rainbow unicorn-looking gat is GunBroker seller Beaveruno, located in Big Spring TX. Let’s see what they had to say about this custom colorful AR-10.

There’s a lot to unpack here, but let us start with the basics of where this all started. In 2007 Hornady introduced the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge. Hornady senior ballistic scientist Dave Emary developed the cartridge in partnership with Dennis DeMille the vice president of Creedmoor sports, giving the cartridge its name. Fast forward to today, and the 6.5 Creedmoor is the most prolific new short-action cartridge in recent memory.
And now we’ve ended up here. I’m not sure if that’s supposed to be a hammer and sickle on the barrel of the rifle, but it suspiciously looks like one. I understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but this is completely new territory. Even stranger is that this rifle already has bids.
I’m not sure if this is some internet joke that I’m now too old to understand because I certainly don’t understand what’s going on here. I get the fifty shades of FDE theme that come from overlaying military contracts, but fifty shades of pastel colors and backward cantilever mounts are incredibly confusing, to say the least. I do look over this build and see some quality components and parts that you just can’t get anymore. I really wish Nikon was still in the riflescope business, and there are some other really good parts on this build. Still, this rifle might shoot like a million bucks, but I can’t say I’d be in the market for something as color confused as this.
So is this rifle worth it with a current bid (reserve not met) of $1,750? I don’t know about you, but I have a sneaking suspicion that there’s some inside joke here I’m just not getting. The internet seems to think so with current bids on the rifle pushing this up near the buy-it-now price, but it’s anyone’s guess if this rifle will actually sell. Still, the doesn’t answer the most important question of this series. So and as always I leave it up to you, the reader, to decide.
