[SHOT 2023] Midwest Industries AK Alpha Series Lineup -The Firearm Blog

At SHOT Show 2023, Midwest Industries unveiled an entire line of AK accessories called the AK Alpha Series. Currently, there are four main products in this family of Midwest Industries AK accessories: AK Alpha Series M-LOK Handguard, AK Alpha Series Optic Mount, AK Alpha Series Railed Top Cover and AK Alpha Series Folding Stock. Let’s take a closer look at each of these new Midwest Industries products.

AK Alpha Series M-LOK Handguard

The M-LOK Handguard is the foundation for the next two products in the series: you have to have the handguard installed to be able to install the Optic Mount and Railed Top Cover as they are attached to the handguard. This handguard is offered in two length options: 6″ and 10″. It is compatible with Midwest Industries and UlitiMAK railed gas tubes.

The MSRP of the 6″ MI AK Alpha Series M-LOK Handguard is $199.95 and the 10″ version is priced at $229.99.

AK Alpha Series Optic Mount

The Optics Mount is attached to the M-LOK Handguard and extends back over the receiver providing a 5-slot Picatinny rail section or an Aimpoint T2 direct mount.

AK Alpha Series Railed Top Cover

The Railed Top Cover is also attached to the M-LOK Handguard and hinges up when disassembling the gun. It comes with a replacement rear section of the recoil spring guide rod, which according to MI, is part of the system that ensures retaining the zero.

AK Alpha Series Folding Stock

Last but not least is the Picatinny rail Folding Stock. Obviously, to attach this stock, you have to have a 1913 rail section at the rear trunnion. This stock has an adjustable cheekpiece and is fully ambidextrous. It can not be folded over a side rail attached scope mount, but you can configure it to be folded to the right side of the gun.
