[SHOT 2023] Holosun To Introduce New SCRS in Q2

New SCRS - GR2 from Holosun (Matthew Moss/TFB)

At this year’s SHOT Show Industry at the Range day Holosun had a number of exciting optics on hand which won’t be available until later this year, but its great to know what’s in the pipeline. We’ve already looked at the promising new DRS TH and DRS NV prototypes Holosun brought to the range, alongside them was another new red dot sight for rifles – the SCRS. The model on the line was the green reticle SCRS GR2.

Holosun describe the SCRS, or Solar Charging Rifle Sight, as the next advancement of their SCS technology. The SCRS new ultra compact 20mm tube. Holosun say that the sight features a multi-directional light sensor and an automatic reticle intensity mode setting along with a manual mode for hands on control of the dot’s intensity.

The SCRS is made from 7075 aluminum and utilizes Holosun’s 509T footprint for compatibility with third- party offset RDS mounts. SCRS will be available with a 2MOA dot or MRS (Multi-Reticle System) in Red or Green models. We got a look at the green.

Holosun explained that the SCRS has no external battery and that its solar cell charges a built-in capacitor which in turn charges the integrated battery. Holosun believe that the capacitor should be able to provide more than enough power to charge the battery. The power reserve is quoted at 20,000 hours.

The new SCRS optic was also mounted on a new 1.63in mount. The new optic will come with one of the new mounts. Redesigned and lighter than earlier mounts it uses improved geometry to provide a stronger more robust base while also cutting down on mass.
