With SHOT Show 2023 just around the corner, we here at The Firearm Blog will be on the lookout for all the new guns and gear, and some that we may have overlooked over the previous years.  We will be covering both manufacturers of modern, new designs of revolvers (like the Silver Creek 4110 seen above), as well as the reproduction sector (Taylor’s, Pietta, Pedersoli, et al).

    Wheelgun Wednesday @ TFB:

Here are just some of the wheelguns we’ll be on the lookout for at the big show:

    1. Rock Island Armory

RIA’s revolvers haven’t had enough of a look in the past, including their European-made AL-Series.  We’ll be looking forward to getting our hands on their revolvers, especially the new AL22 Standard and Magnum, in .22LR and .22 Magnum respectively.

    2. The Zenk RZMK-357

The Crye Six12, the TOZ-81 MARS and the 1880s “Cherubin” have all been attempts at bullpup revolving firearms.  Hopefully, this latest one is viable enough to be a commercial option.  The Zenk is probably one of the more unusual revolvers that will be at SHOT Show 2023.

    3. German Revolvers

Spohr, Janz, Korth: these are all some of the fine revolvers “auf Deutschland” we will keep our eyes out for.  As far as German revolvers that have flown under our radar until now, we’ll be curious to take a look at the Weihrauch Bounty Hunter from EAA as well.

    4. Anything new From Ruger, S&W and Colt

Besides the recently announced new Ruger Wrangler barrel lengths, the two big US manufacturers of revolvers have been keeping their cards close to their chest until SHOT, and Colt has as well.  Hopefully, there will be some new offerings from Ruger’s Custom Shop and S&W’s performance center, and some further line extensions by Colt as well.

    5.  New revolver calibers and Loadings

Whether it’s the .500 Bushwhacker or some hitherto unknown new cartridges or bullet designs, we’ll be looking for new leaded and unleaded fuel for your wheelguns. Whether it’s for self-defense, competition, or hunting, ammo choices are key.

    6.  The BFR “Thunder Snub”

Because how could you not love the novelty of a snub-nose .45-70?  I imagine it’s just as satisfying as drinking top-shelf whisky (and just as expensive per shot).

That’s just the top of our lookout list for SHOT 2023.  How about you, readers?  Let us know what wheelguns you want us to keep our eyes out for at SHOT Show 2023 in the comments, and keep checking TFB for all the latest SHOT Show news next week!
