TFB Weekly Web Deals 37: 5 Items That Are Always in My Range Bag

    0011

Welcome to TFB Weekly Web Deals 37. With the start of the new year, I had a little bit of precious downtime to take care of some administrative tasks with my gun gear. This meant cleaning out my range bag. The range bag I personally use the most is a 5.11’s Range Ready Bag 43L. This bag has been with me for a long time and has served me well, has a ton of space for a lot of guns, ammunition, and of course all the other random tools and gear that are almost always with me. If you’re looking for a fresh start to your range trips, you might want to consider picking one of these up – it will probably last you a lifetime. Today for TFB Weekly Web deals 37 we’re going to take a look at 5 items that are always in my range bag that go beyond the basics (eye pro, ear pro, IFAK, etc).

Shot Timer – Competitive Edge Dynamics CED7000

    Regular Price: $150.49

    Sale Price: $139.99

Shot timers are still probably one of the most underutilized firearms tools used today. Not everyone is a competitive shooter and not every range session has to use one but I’ve found that using a shot timer not only helps improve your speed, accuracy, and consistency when used properly during practice, but it also keeps you honest about your performance. For years I’ve been using the Competitive Edge Dynamics CED7000 series shot timer. It’s a simple, affordable, and very functional shot timer that can satisfy the needs of everyone ranging from a new shooter to a seasoned USPSA or 3 Gun competitor.

Shooting gloves are great to bring to the range for a variety of reasons but one of the biggest for me is for helping deal with the heat coming off of my rifle during range sessions or classes that require a high volume of fire that will inevitably heat your rifle up. Agelite’s version of the popular Mechanix M-PACT glove comes in a genuine MultiCam camouflage pattern and features pre-cut index, middle finger, and thumb holes that don’t fray and tear. Mechanix gloves are also great for when you need to set up or tear down targets, or quickly check to see if your suppressor is on tight.

    Fix It Sticks

Fix It Sticks have saved me on a number of occasions. The kit I use called the “All-In-One features a Torque driver, T-Way wrench, and bits for just about every optic or piece of hardware you’re likely to have on any of your guns at the range. Having tools is great for those last-minute adjustments or fixes you need to get done after you leave home and Fix It Sticks also come in handy at home for general-purpose use on firearms.

    Snap Caps

    Price: $39.95

Another great training tool for shooters looking to improve their overall gun handling performance is snap caps or dummy rounds. The ones I use are Glock brand snap caps but you can find a variety of different snap caps on the market made from lots of different materials. I like the Glock brand snap caps because they’re fairly inexpensive compared to other kinds, and they also come in a convenient bulk pack of 50 which is great because if you use these frequently for training through malfunctions then you’ll inevitably wind up losing a handful of them over time.

    Spare Targets/Posters

    Price: $7.00

Whether you purchase targets from an indoor range or you use your own at your local gun club, having spare targets or pasters is always a must for either getting around the outrageous prices they charge you at the range or for extending the use of an already shot-up target. There are lots of great uses for target pasters and spare targets and they are so inexpensive for a pack of 1,000 little posters that you’d be hard-pressed to find an excuse to not keep a roll in your range bag at all times.
