Rifle Dynamics introduced the Quickhatch pistol at the beginning of the past year and until now it was available chambered in 7.62x39mm only. Well, the company has just announced that a version of the Quickhatch chambered in 5.45x39mm is now available too. Let’s take a closer look.

Welcome the newest member of the Rifle Dynamics family.  The Quickhatch fills the specialized role of PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) in our line up.  Taking inspiration from the original AK PDW, the AKSU, we wanted to build something similar in size but also taking advantage of modern gear and accessories in mind.

This special edition Quickhatch is chambered in 5.45x39mm to truly bring about a modernized Krinkov.

Rifle Dynamics 5.45 Quickhatch pistol features a 9″ barrel made of 4150 steel that has a nitrided finish, 1:6.25″ twist rate, and 1/2×28 muzzle threads. The gas system is of a custom length and the pistol comes with a Rifle Dynamics tunable gas block installed. The custom aluminum handguard, which is designed in collaboration with Occam Defense Solutions, features M-LOK slots on the sides and bottom as well as a top Picatinny rail that extends back over the top cover of the receiver. The rear trunnion provides a Picatinny rail section for attaching 1913 rail-compatible braces or stocks. The action of the pistol (rails, bolt, bolt carrier, and trigger group) is tuned. The 5.45 Quickhatch pistol has an overall length of 20″ and it weighs in at 5 lb 15 oz.

Besides those listed above, there are several other options too. The handguard has a standard black color of the anodized finish but for an additional $50, it can be painted to match the color of the gun. Also, for $45, you can add a Rifle Dynamics Safety Stud safety lever instead of the standard AK safety. The Quickhatch does not come with iron sights in the standard configuration, however, you can order it with Occam Defense PH2 Sights installed for an extra $200.
