TFB has been running our Photo Of The Day for years, with growing archives of interesting firearm and soldier pictures. This is the fourth in a series of articles TFB is doing on some of the firearms used by the Finnish Army. Today we’re looking at the 8.6 SNIPER RIFLE 2000 which is of course chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum (8.6 x 70 mm). Most people probably know it better as the Sako TRG-42 sniper rifle.

Here is what the Finnish Army has to say about their sniper rifle:

Use the Photo Of The Day database to scan and search thousands of modern and historic photos of soldiers and firearms.

Here are some examples on the subject of Finland and sniper rifles: Sako TRG 22 “Finland 100” Limited Edition Sniper Rifle, The Evolution of Finnish Snipers and last but certainly not least Simo Häyhä – “White Death” Sniper Painted on a Truck.

Having a magazine makes it a bolt action repeater not single shot.

@Klaus Then why do you call it EinzelFeuer? Hmmm? If Klaus is even your name.

It's obvious it's machine translated and y'all are taking pedantry too far.

Looks like there’s a language translation snafu from Finnish to English on the action type.

Anyhow, the Sako TRG-21/22/41/42 is among the most effortlessly accurate and precise rifles I’ve had the pleasure of shooting in .308 WIN, .300 WIN MAG and .338 LM.

The Finns know how to build a rifle for marksmen.
