Brownells just announced a new HK416-pattern upper receiver kit, the BRN-4. This piston-driven upper is compatible with standard AR-15 lower receiver groups.

Heckler & Koch’s HK416 needs little introduction. It has seen service with conventional armies and special operations forces, and was famously used to kill Osama bin Laden. The closest thing to a 416 on the US market is the MR556, but it has some differences that drive the purists crazy. Some may remember that Brownells imported a selection of true HK416 parts a few years ago. Those dried up, but the demand did not.

Enter the BRN-4. It’s compatible with 416 parts and has the classic quad rail as seen on the M-27. Clone nerds who may have some parts for their CAG clone can buy parts separately to complete their build. The BRN-4 upper kit is available with a 14.5″ or 16″ barrel, produced by Faxon. Both options are available as of the time of writing and are currently on sale for $1,499. A 10.4″ barrel is also available but is not sold as part of a kit.

You can get your BRN-4 kit with a 14.5″ or 16″ barrel. Manufactured for Brownells by Faxon, the medium-contour, 5.56 NATO chambered BRN-4 barrel is slimmer than original HK416 barrels to keep weight down and help you build a well-balanced rifle.
