Strike Industries have released a new translucent or as they call it smoke shade .223/5.56 AR-15 magazine that apparently replaces the black polymer magazine in their catalog as the latter can’t be found on their website anymore. Besides the clear design which is of course for seeing the amount of ammunition in the magazine, the new smoke shade Strike AR-15 magazine has an increased capacity (33 rounds), is made of new SI Polymer Extreme material as well as features an improved baseplate design and improved spring design and coating.

The previous non-translucent version of Strike Industries AR-15 magazine had a 32-round capacity, so the new one holds an extra round. The new magazine has an anti-tilt follower and Strike AccuRamp first-round feed tray design. The improved spring design and coating are advertised to provide high reliability and corrosion resistance. The new Strike mag also features an anti-slip texture.

The overall geometry of this new Strike Industries magazine is also improved for easier insertion and removal into/from multi-magazine pouches. Additionally, the baseplate features a cord channel for improved retention in magazine pouches.

Strike Industries smoke shade AR-15 magazine can be purchased from the company’s website for $13.95.

I think it would be even better if the magazine body had numbers molded into it showing the actual amount of ammunition in the magazine. Also, a molded-in dot matrix for marking the caliber/cartridge would be a good option for those who plan to use this magazine for both their .223/5.56 rifles and guns chambered in other cartridges that fit AR-15 magazines. Let us know in the comments section what you think about the new Strike Industries smoke shade AR-15 magazine.
