Photo Of The Day: If you’ve been in the Army, you know all about this. The first time you got issued your rifle. Here you can see recruits of the Golf Company getting their M16A4 service rifles for the first time. I’m sure they’re excited (perhaps).

Below: Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, where recruits get issued rifles and briefed on their responsibilities regarding rifle security, safety and handling.

Below: Cleaning kits, a vital part of the kit and knowledge to keep any rifle going in the long run. Personally, I bring more oil than that to a competition to avoid running dry.

Do you remember when you got your first rifle?

Please check back tomorrow for more photos and short stories.
